Conversion of Foreign Time when returning to US

So lets say that a pilot flies a jet (CRJ) in a foreign country (specifically, India) and returns to the US job market... how is that time looked at?
Is the time valid towards ratings such as the ATP? How do airlines view the quality of this time?
For anyone that has done any foreign contracts and returned to the US... any advice would be appreciated! Also... if anyone has any info on tax conversions that would be great.

I fly for a US airline and a company in the mid-east on my vacations and I have never heard of anyone discerning the difference between flying in the mid-east...far-east...or south pole. As long as you have the license and its in your logook its legal. As far as taxes go....WHAT TAX!

It wouldn't count towards 121 time that some airlines require for hiring minimums, but other than that it counts just like any other flying time would.
