Yea, we have a 'surplus' of FO's and skippers on the B767 as we are winding down the fleet. The number is something like 17 and 20 respectively. But, we have a shortage of dozers to the tune of the same number, and we're starting AKL-YVR in November. I know we are in talks with EK, but for what, B777 guys? We're short of B777 guys. So if these pilots bugger of for one of the numerous contracts that are out there, what do we do then? We're still way short on other fleets. Oh well, I'm safe. . .for now.

A number of the pilots who flew J41's for the now defunct Origin have gone off to AJX commuter. I have heard that they are happy, but nothing direct so I will ask around.

EK Birdcage, I live a couple miles south of the Westpoint beacon on finals for 05R in AKL, I'll wave back.

. . .ever fly with Dave Thorn? Used to work with him at DHL out of Bahrain.

Thanks, EK.... I'd love to hear how they like it in Osaka.

The Dash is a lot cooler than I would have believed from the start. It's like flying an elevator! JFK controllers love to bring us in fast into the final, then slow us down to final speed and dunk us onto an approach. It's easy to make fun of the Dash, but it's cool to fly.

It sounds like Koru may know a lot more about it (-8 Contract) then me..

When I get out there, I will certainly ask around.. When I interveiwed, I met guy from Canada; but he too was interviewing and had more questions then answers.. Have been to Osaka on layover and it looks to be beautiful..
I would check with PARC or HACS, and have them put you in touch with someone currently on the contract so you can hear it from the horses mouth!

Just as a total side note: That Lynx out of Denver sounds like they will do some fun flying.. Dont know anything about pay etc.. I used to fly the DO-328 in the mountains back when and it was awesome flying..

Cheers,

BC

Default Questions AJX/HACS contract

Hi all,
From what I've been reading, the HACS and Parc contracts sound like a great deal; most of the posters' experiences seem to be very positive. Like more than a few others however, I have questions that I hope someone will be willing/able to answer...

1) Contract renewal? At the end of five years, do you start over at the year one pay rate on a new contract, or continue at the same five year pay level that you've already obtained?

2) Sick leave? Twelve days seems like plenty for "normal" stuff, but people do fall off ladders or get in car crashes; what happens if you're laid up for a month or so?

3) Commuting/ Rosters/ Days Off? Is ten days the max you will have off in a month, or do you sometimes get more? How often do you get back to back stretches of twenty days on, resulting in forty days away from home? Do most of you feel like you get enough time off, even using two of your ten for commuting? Any comments from married guys on this subject would definitely be welcome.

Thanks very much for any insight you can provide.
