Default China Express

Hey looking for information about China Express specifically.

I've read the thread about working in China and I understand it has its pros and cons and each company has its own drawback.

I'm just curious what China Express is like. Anyone have any info they would like to post or PM?

There's no info here, and hardly any on PPRUNE. I've been looking as well. Contact Scott at Aero Crew. He might have some info he'd be willing to share.

If you are current on the CRJ, are up for some new experiences and have two years to kill, I personally think it'd be a cool gig.

Contact VOR Holdings, the owner is/was a UAL pilot whose son was flying in China. He was very focused on making sure that prospective pilots had full disclosure of what it was like to work and live in China.

They have a posting for express, it may be worth an email to see if they can answer your questions.

Personally, if I never go back to china it'll be too soon.

This is the first post that I have ever come across that has anything positive to say about VOR Holdings

Default China Express CRJ Captain employment facts

Salary quoted is incorrect.

Before you make any income, you will have to go thru hell to pass Medical, ATP theory Exam ' half pilots fail” and company check-ride.
Medical results most the time are incorrect "Political reasons" if diagnosed with anything abnormal, you will have to wait and wait to get it corrected, sometimes more than 3 months.

Once you spend 2 to 5 months dealing with all that, and provided you pass all, you will sign the contract and start making $6000 per month.
Then you will go thru Sim training for your Government Check ride " Sim is the most sensitive Sim in the world. Provided you pass all training that involves too much political drama, you will go for your Chinese ATPL License government Check ride. Examiner is a young arrogant that passes whomever he likes, he uses his Iphone 80% of the time while giving you check ride. If you are lucky, and he lies you, you'll pass, if not you'll be sent home.

After passing check ride, you will have to do 3 touch and go's "very easy” you'll just sit there and the instructor does everything including flaring, landing with on the controls. "They do not trust you" even if you have 10,000 hours on the CRJ.

After all that, you will do more sim training, then the company check ride. Then you go for line training, this is where you will have to have extreme patience and kissing you knows what. It used to be minimum 25 hours line training, but now its 50 hours minimum, plus a line check after each 25 hours. You will be yelled at, laughed at and they will make you feel like you have never flown an airplane before.

3 Captains were asked to give their Chinese ATPL back after it was issued, and were stopped from continuing their line training for 3 months. They said it’s for part 121 hours verification, however there are pilots that have been flying that didn’t have 121 hours. So, many pilots have been on training pay for over one year!!!

After that, provided you pass and get released, you will be released as a Captain, and will start making 11,500 per month. Remember if you do the rotation 30 days on, 30 off, you will have to fly 900 to 950 hours for the 6 months you are there, to make any bonus pay, so your one month rotation from the 15th until the 15th you have to fly 150 hours, double the amount of flying you are used to in normal countries. “They call from the 15th until the end of the same month a whole month."

In order to make more than 138,000 per year, you have to be always on time, not being sick and flying the minimum hours above, having perfect safety records with no QAR “preset parameters.”
You will receive daily threats, to follow SOP and to follow their orders. Your two FO’s you’ll be flying with “some hardly speak English” always monitoring you, and reporting to the chief!

Xcpats moral is down. A lot of Drama!!! One Xcpat pilot just got arrested for one day, for having little liquor in his overnight bag to take to the hotel. They got him out, and split home as he was being punished with a fine and suspension.
PM me if you need to know more! I have all the facts, and can show you!

My experience was not bad. I know some people who had issues, but I never did. It seemed to me people had complaints regardless of the agency they were using. In the end I think the airline you were with played more of a role in the complaints more than anything else. The biggest drawback with VOR is they were a US based company and thus filed a 1099 each year. For the guys who were trying to hide their income from the IRS it was bad. But with FATCA and the stepped up enforcement of FBAR, that becomes a non issue unless you want to take extreme risks. VOR is now based in Hong Kong so I believe there is no more 1099 filings.

I work for China Express. Shoot me a message. It's a good place to work. I don't know where this nonsense is coming from. I think it's hard to find info because there are only about 15 expats here, maybe 3 or 4 US, a few Canadians, French, Spanish. But not many forum posters. Seems like someone would only take the time and effort to post if they were motivated out of anger or vengeance. I guess every company will have that one guy. Anyway, they need pilots, they want pilots, they want to keep pilots, and they want pilots to be happy. Not all will be, but you can always leave. It's not for everyone. Send me a message and I'll try answering your questions.

Don't go through a recruiter. They don't know anything and offer zero after submitting your paperwork. There is no benefit in using one. Just go directly through China Express. I can give you the contact info if interested.
