Heard they don't let the copilots fly the plane, read more about that at www.flightinfo.com

p-factor: When do you start there? I have an interview coming up and am just trying to make an informed decision, if I am afforded that possibility...

They have Avanti Is and IIs - the IIs are ProLine 21 equipped (very nice glass). Newhires go into one or the other initially and probably IIs over the long term as they get more delivered. With the exception of the recent FO flying rule change (see above), it seems like a solid company with many great domicile choices and interesting/varied flying. You will see a lot more of the country flying with Avantair (fly into a lot of smaller airfields in remote places in addition to the normal Class B airports) than you would with any regional. Seems like their pay is pretty competitive too.

Good luck.

Clearly a knee-jerk reaction to a gear-up landing at FLL a few months ago. It was a maintenance issue and not the FO's fault from what I have heard - although it has all been second-hand info... This action was taken to pacify the "fears" of owners but I hear most don't know about it or are not worried. It is an over-reaction by the management and most Avantair FOs are not happy about it (many have 1000s of hours in higher-performance RJs, etc.).

That's surprising, and not very bright. I was looking at Avantair and thinking about applying when I retire from the military later this year.....not anymore. I bet a lot of their current FO's will be looking to leave if that keeps up.
