Not at first. Didn't understand the variables and big picture as well as I do now. The company had shown a willingness to increase compensation, but I learned as I went along, like everyone already knew, that the company wasn't going to compete financially with the legacies by a long shot, while still working us 3x harder, making the inversion even more perverse. I don't mind long days - I thrive on the chaos and love the hustle. But long days + long stretches away from home + half the money and 3x the effort meant it was time to consider a change. Remove even one of those negatives in the combo and maybe things would be different.
I think its just a little humorous to say "we're going to pay you significantly less, contribute pennies to your retirement by comparison, and ask you two work twice as hard, and we think that's a great career destination"
So yeah - there were some things I didn't fully understand when I thought I would be here for a really long time, some of it my fault. It's a great company for certain things and lifestyle needs though. Not mad.
