Just got an email from Heather in HR and she said they are stopped hiring FO's for the next several months.

 

this makes me extremely sad.

 

So with Alpha done hiring, Citation shares not hiring anywhere near here Linear requiring you to start as a Van FO (who wants to be a VAN FO with 2000+ hours) it looks like I will be at Colgan for a long long time to come.

 

My friend at Alpha confirmed for me that requirements are back to 1,000 total time for future hires....she was told some of the 500 hr guys weren't on top of their game

I was on top of my game at 500 hours....or at least I thought so when I had 500 hours. Funny how your perspective changes along your career. When I got my private I thought I was the ace of the skies, when I hit 250 hours I was not sure how I never fell out of the skies as a pvt.

 

Is avantair still hiring?? Ive heard they are pretty good from those in the know.

Not at all. When I got hired at Colgan I wanted to work for a frac or 135 outfit but with my low times I figured it would be better to get a year or so of multi turbine under my belt as well as some good hours to make me more attractive for other positions. If I made the move to alpha first and then wanted to move on in a few years I would not look so hot with 4500TT with 165 multi.

All part of my plan. We will see though, im going to fulfill my 1 year obligation and then see where upgrades are (or are not) and start sending out apps to every where in the corp and 135 and frac world that I would want to work at and just hang tight in the Q until the right option comes along. I still have a job so can afford to wait for a while if need be and unfortunately that is more than I can say for alot of our flying brothers and sisters out there.
