NJ Application Question

Default NJ Application Question

I recently sent all the required documents to NetJets as per their website. Do they prefer applications sent in the mail or via email? I scanned mine into a pdf document and emailed it. For those of you in the know...is that acceptable?

Additionally, how important is turbine PIC to them? I just made RJ captain at OO (SKYW) and only have about 100 hrs. or so.

I unfortunately do not know anyone that works for them...so any NJ guys in the DFW area that may be interested in meeting in person and answering some of my questions over some adult beverages within the next week or so (my treat of course), would be greatly appreciated.

Don't let the fact that you don't have any internal recomendations bother you. I called the HR department about a friend of mine, he's got 3000 hrs. Dash 8 PIC, and 5000 total turbine. He's been waiting for 8 months now, knowing someone helps, but its not critical. The lack of turbine PIC won't kill your chances either. Hang in there, its worth it (provided they call).

It would be great if you got in within the next 2 years, after 2009 you'll be looking at an upgrade time of more than 8 years. Its a good thing you can make as much here flying as a first officer as you do at a regional flying as a Captain. They want to stop or at least signifincatly slow the growth at 5000 pilots, there are already 2800 of us. We do have hundreds of guys in their 60s, but they refuse to retire. Sooner or later they will, and things will start moving quicker again....

I know a few that won't be retiring in a few years because they'll be dead. We have some REALLY old guys.

I mailed in the application packet that I downloaded on December 21st. I still haven't heard from NetJets that they have received my packet. At what point should I become concerned? Should I call someone? If I should call someone, who do you suggest I call?

Greetings all,
This is my first post ever. I've gotten a lot of information from the site and your posts (thanks!), but it's still a new world to figure out. I'm looking to transition from the military w/o much understanding of the civilian side, especially NetJets. My main question is about timing, one of you mentioned the application process can take most of a year. Is that just to get an interview? If I transition out 6 months from now, I'm trying to gauge how long I might go without a full time job.

Its very hard to gauge how long you will go without a flying job. The sooner you get started, the better (use mil leave to interview if you can). The biggest thing to realize is you will not be able to roll out of the military into a GOOD flying job right away unless you are really lucky. The age 65 rule is slowing things at the 121 carriers for the next few years and the regional pay sucks. Also, NJ is becoming very competitive due to our last TA. If you can, get a job with a reserve or guard unit to help fill the void. You might also consider a non-flying job until something happens. Wish I could give you better news.

I received my application within two weeks of applying. I sent my application in the next day, early in November. I finally got a letter saying thanks but no thanks a few days ago. Fortunately I got hired by Citation Shares in December. I have about 6000 hrs with about 3000 as a CRJ FO, no Jet PIC, no internal recomendation. I also have not had alot of flying in the last 12 months. I left the airlines in frustration and just picked up some corporate flying here and there to stay current. Had a little over 100 hrs in the last 12 months. Not sure which of these factors led to the rejection.

With the application that they want you to print off and hand in, do they perfer handwritten or typed. My hand writing isn't the best but in today's world a typewriter is a hard thing to find. Anyone got a good way to type to info in via computer?
