hahaha "low timer", that's funny. Here's something else, I've read on other forums Northwest has hired a few 2500TT regional guys. I guess the 5000TT guys are turning down the job, or not going to the interview at all. I tell you, this business..............

4. Has retirement in the bag with current airline and wants to retire early and try new gig (met DAL Captain who retired early and did a new aviation career for lot less money, but had a blast)
5. Tired of current company climate, not anything like it was first dozen years when it was more close knit.
6. Had some former buds tell 'em how much they enjoyed the job and figured better to leave now so have chance to be Capt before full retirement.

It isn't always about the money. Look at regional Capts who like there gig and stay put. Military pilots who stay in despite better paying flying opportunities elswhere. It isn't so crazy like you may think.
Absolutely, it's not always about the money. But when you consider the fact that he has seniority AND money; it starts to make less sense. Regional Captains stay there because they enjoy the privileges of seniority and prefer quality of life to quality of paycheck. However, someone starting at NJA will have to face a long uphill battle at accruing seniority and a good paycheck, so why finish your years at the bottom??? Some of the arguments you pointed out are valid, but to me, they still don't warrant such a move. I'm not arguing with the gentleman, I'm just trying to understand what rational line of thinking is driving him towards NJA.
Besides, the question was geared towards him, so it would be best not to answer on his behalf.

You didn't answer his question either <g> I reckon you are young in the career because you focus on "seniority AND money" means you didn't appreciate the rest of the post. To the poster, that may be the top of his career. One that he chooses to enjoy. Nuts to you, but who cares what you and I think is sane in an insane career field. I have seen a few people do as I explained, for the reasons I posited. I like my career and wouldn't leave till I am 60, even though I can stay till 65. My retirement will be squared away, kids gone, same wife, opportunity to leave as planned. Uhmmmmm. All in good fun.

Hello CAPTDOUG,

I sent my hard copy in prior to the TA approval. It mailed out on the 19th of October 07 and I recieved a application accepted E-mail on 25 October 07. I have heard they are getting alot of applications now and it is taking longer. I am not sure how much longer though.

I have been in contact, via E-mail with NetJets as well. They are not able to forecast how long it will take for an interview. It appears you are just going to have to wait it out with the rest of us.

Anyways, hope that helped a little bit. Good luck.

It did help. Thanks. Its nice to see there is a couple people in here that are level headed and aren't full of sarcasim. Maybe they are just pi$$ed off at the system because they can't get a "good" job or just "plane" jealous.

This guy can't be for real. "Plane" jealous? YGBSM! Based on your spelling and grammar skills, I'll give you some advice: Be cool, stay in school.

I appreciate the info from those that have the intelligence to respond in that manner. There are some idiots in here as in all forums. Its a free country I guess.

Just to inform, I am a 777 Captain at the top of my game. UAL, US Airways and DAL pilots lost their defined benefit plan to the PBGC. They ended up with a pittance annuity as they "funded" the rest of their airline retirements with their huge lost lump sums. They get less than a flight attendant in the annuity game with the PBGC. Good reason to think about quitting. So I did. Yet during my career I also made great investments so money is not the issue. I am just not done flying and want to check out the possibilities in the light jet world and stay close to home and not commute to fly all around the world. That lost its luster long ago. But I can understand those that haven't done it thinking it is a lot of fun. It is at first, but becomes a job and a very boring job at that. But the money is good. So I quit so one of you might take my number and get hired by a major. To me its unbelievable to get comments like stay in school and use spell check. Give me a break. I'm surely not out to impress anyone here, just looking for some help as I would give if I had it.

That being said, does anyone have a phone # or E mail at Net Jets worth while to verify the status of my application?

Doug,

OK, just for the record, I think you are crazy to leave a 777 Capt job, but to each his/her own. I'd suggest you just wait it out. They got back to me in about two weeks ( I think we have similar time/types), but that was pre-TA. If you have a new internal rec, that might be an excuse to bug them, otherwise I'd just sit on my hands. Unless you did something silly on the app, they are sure to get you in the loop fairly soon. Good luck.
