Gotcha.....semantics I guess.
(2) "extended" days pay = (3) "days" pay.

That's why I corrected Hawkerdude, he posted 2 extra days pay which is wrong, its 3 extra days pay. A captain on the 7 on 7 off that hired on 5 years ago makes $571 a day x 3 is $1713. for getting home after midnight, just don't want to see anyone lose $571 or a 1st year FO lose $312 and ony get $625 instead of the $938 due

It is probably more common on the X than the rest of the cessnas. I could be wrong. Just a guess.

I did one a few tours ago, TEB-SFO. Hotel at sun-up. I also did one a few months ago that landed in IAD at around 3. I have had way too many starts on the east coast at 5AM, which is 3 for a mountain time zone guy and 2 when I was on the pacific time zone. Those are red eyes to me. More painful.

Tomorrow is day 3 and my third coast-to-coast. All are into the sun.

I've been on the Excel/ XLS for a little over 2 years now and I've never had a redeye. The latest I've flown here is about 2am, but I have had plenty of pre 5am starts.

Serious question. How do you stay up at night (red-eye) on a long flight in that tight X cockpit? I have heard that book/magazine-reading is a no-no due to the company policy. Are you just gulping down coffee and talkin' politics or taking frequent stretching breaks? How do Netjets pilots pass the time on longer flights (especially at night)? Fortunately I don't have too many flights that exceed 2 hours in my ERJ so I always wonder how others do it... I guess I'll have to learn if I want to join the Netjets club.

Handle it the same way I did flying Red-eyes for the airlines.....

Step 1: Grab at least a 3-4 hour nap before your show-time that evening.

Step 2: Enjoy a strong cup of the free Starbucks coffee from the FBO
*so far, all of the red-eyes I've flown have originated in Seattle

Step 3: Drink plenty of coffee enroute
*be sure to get-up every hour or so and use the lav

Step 4: If you don't have a particulary "chatty" crewmate, plug-in the iPod and listen to tunes all night long

I think it depends on the airframe. The smaller stuff doesn't do a whole lot of overnight flying. On the other hand, the X can fly overnight to get someone to the other coast for a early am meeting.
