It's hard to tell. We go wherever the plane and passengers are. In 2 years, I've only picked up one airplane in Omaha. Majority of the time you will airline or limo on the first day. We do have quite a few flights out of Boeing field.

I would say as a general rule, you won't have a transcon airline on your first day (you'll have plenty on the last day, however). They do happen from time to time, although I've never had one. Being in Seattle, I would say you have a decent chance of picking up a plane there occasionally. I'm based in Philadelphia and have picked up a plane there twice so far this year. Being close to the NY area, I've only airlined three times on my first day in 6 months on the line. The vast majority of the time I limo to garden spots such as TEB or HPN.

The 7/7 isn't bad at all. The best part is the 8 nights I spend at home, not the 6 nights that I'm away.

My wife and I far prefer the 7/7 to the schedule I had at JetBlue (granted I was a junior biatch at JB). Knowing your schedule a year in advance is priceless, IMHO.

By day 5 of a trip I'm wanting to see the family pretty bad, but knowing I will have a full week with them gets me through the last 2 days. I have a lot more quality time with my family then the vast majority of airline pilots I know (and most of the 9-5ers for that matter).

How does NJ look at Mil leave. Can you work 7/7 and then only 3-4 days of the next 7 and then 7 off?

I'm retired active duty, so I don't know for sure; however, Netjets is very supportive of the military. If you bid a 7/7 schedule, your military days should not affect your scheduled 7 days off.

On the 7/7 your on and off days are set in stone so any mil leave you take does not change your off days. If you mil drop 3 days of a 7 day tour, you will go out for 4 days and still have your 7 off afterwards.

NJ is awesome with mil leave and have never given myself or anyone else any grief that I've ever heard.

It all depends on the fleet that you are on. They work me on my days but it seems that I just chill at hotels and try to keep my sanity. I'm on the 18 day and spend most of my time wondering around town looking for bike rentals to cruz. Back in the day of reserve I would spend these days at home on a home show. Its because of dudes like me they got rid of the "reserve". If you find yourself on small fleets like the encore. When one goes down you just wait until it gets fixed. If your on a bigger fleet they send you across the field and have you jump in another airframe. This job at NJA is ever changing and fun. Don't try and predict the tour ahead. Just ride the wave and hope for a barrel.

I hear that most NJ guys end up getting a month off per year due to the two weeks vacation and how you bid it. When do you get more than two weeks of Vacation time and is it really that sweet there? I know most people end up liking what they are hired/accepted into regardless of the company; a human nature thing.
