After 5 years you get 3 weeks vacation and after 10 you get 4 weeks.

On the 7/7 each week of vacation is 3 weeks off. I think four 3 week vacations is pretty sweet! Not to mention you get another 12 days of "sick" time per year which is almost 2 more tours (or you can sell them back if you want the cash). Also, NJA is pretty cool with granting LOAs if you can handle the pay hit. I took one last month which gave me 3 weeks off, with no pay obviously.

A 10 year guy with 4 weeks vacation and who also uses a week of sick time, would only work 21 tours a year (26-5) which is 147 days of actual "work" per year. 3 of those tours (21 days) will be for training, so that's only 126 days of actually flying the line.

Then I'll have 4 off and work the last 2 days (and first 5 of next month). I have almost a 7 and 7 next month with all 7 day tours and a 6 day off stretch and a 7 day off stretch. It has worked out great for me so far. I haven't had a tour shorter than 5 days so far.
Which aircraft?

That sounds great! However, is this the common theme there or is this the top of the good deal pile? I am already filing out my application as we speak. Looks like my job is not going to be here in the Fall and I want to move to Austin.

Soulshine- I'm on the Excel. I just had a 3 day tour last month, but that is the only one I've had and the only one I've had less than 5 days still. I've heard of a few guys who have had 4 on and 3 off for a few weeks in a row, but that isn't common and that hasn't happened for me.

I would say this is the common theme for all on the 7/7, no special deals involved. The example I gave was for a 10+ year guy who has 4 weeks vacation. A new hire having only 2 weeks vacation would work 2 more tours a year, still not too shabby.

Good luck with your application! I've been considering moving to Austin or San Antonio myself.

Thanks dudemize. I kick myself for not doing it 18 months ago. I think it fits my personality.

AUS and SAT are great! SAT is even has cheaper housing and close to the Hill Country. My top two choices. Of course I heard that you only have to give a 30 day notice to change bases and you can start at any of the bases.

Do people coming from places like Airnet or some other 135 operator have a pretty decent chance of getting on with Netjets?

From what I have seen this year, they appear to be dividing it up roughly equally between airline, 135/91/91K and military. Military may not be equal to the other two due to there not being as many military guys available. This is just an impression based on limited knowledge. Your milage may vary, more or less. IMO, they want a mix in the group and are actively working to keep it balanced.

If you are competitive for your background of flying, you have a good chance.

If you are a slacker, your background will reflect. Pure and simple.

The way it is at most places.
