VLJ Time
Just wondering if anybody might have an idea how VLJ PIC time might look on a resume when applying for a job with the likes of NetJets and XOJet. For example, would a candidate with 121 PIC time be more attractive?

I think PIC jet time is PIC jet time however 121 PIC shows you can keep up with a schedule and that you yourself are not deciding were to go. 121 Captains do not always have the option to go where there is no weather or adverse conditions they just go. Part 91 PIC jet time you can avoid the weather and adverse stuff more often.

thats an interesting opinion on the difference between 121 and 91 PIC time, never thought of it that way. I have flown 121 and am currently flying Part 135 on demand charter, in my opinion you have to be much more on your game flying Pt 135 due to not having a schedule but still having customers who want to get to their destination, also unfamiliar airports are the norm, just went to some podunk airport in the middle of Wyoming on 30 minutes notice. Flying Pt 121 I felt that complacency can and does set in due to the same routes and not having to plan as much, but that is what makes it so safe, Pt 135 doesn't have near the safety record. I think that all types of Jet PIC are very valuable and you will learn tons If you are flying an RJ or a VLJ just get the PIC the quickest route available to you. Remember with the way the industry is right know we all may be at the same job for a few years so try to be at one that is at least halfway descent.
Just my opinion.

In my humble opinion, 135 is far more demanding. Most outfits the pilot plans, gets wx, does weight and balance, must comply with regs without additional input from dispatch/office, & some cases even makes arrangements at the destination, the list could go on and on. Plus deal with last minute pax requests and changes. Let's not forget you could also end the day with a circling approach at night to minimums to an airport that neither of you have been to in a non-radar environment. It can be extremely challenging at times -- but isn't that the fun of it? In any case get the jet PIC where you can.

I'd say that 121 PIC time is the holy grail of logging time. It is more valuable because it is less common, more highly structured, and highly standardized. That it is normally turbine time goes without saying. 121 PIC in a glass cockpit jet would be most desirable because it is not as common as other types of PIC time.
91 jet PIC is good, but doesn't require as much standardization on average.
VLJ PIC would also lack crew coordination and CRM elements.
