NJ/NJI Clarification

NJ/NJI Clarification
On the payscale is the "Base Aircraft" referring to the NJ payscale whereas the "Large Cabin" the NJI payscale? I understand that there are at least 100 bases to choose from with NetJets, but are some bases more senior than others or is there no limit to how many pilots are based in each city? At NJI, is it still true that you need to only live in a city with an airport with commercial service anywhere in the U.S.? Finally, if you work at NJ, do you have any advantage over an outside applicant to apply at NJI? Thank you.

large cabin is over 40K lb. Falcon EZ and BBJ at NJA. You will not see one anytime soon, so no real need to worry about that pay scale.
No limit on number of pilots at a crew base.
That sounds right about NJI and fly from home - for now.
NJI must hire from NJA on a ratio basis for now. Come November and all new hires will come from NJA.

You have other aircraft at NJA that fit that Large Cabin category right?
Gulfstream IV/V for two? What is looking to be the timeframe for possible move to the large fleet aircraft now for a FO? Just luck of the bid?

No, that is it for now. The Flacon 2000 is not in the large a/c fleet. The G4s and G5s are NJI aircraft and NJI has its own unpublished pay scale.
Unless you get hired at NJI before the gate is shut, any NJA new hire will not be able to even bid the G4/5 until 3.5 years when your initial seat lock is up. I am not sure how many people have standing bids in for the G program, but I imagine there are enough to feel the spots. The same is true for the Falcon EZ and the BBJ.

So after Nov, are all moves from NJA to NJI going to be based purely on seniority numbers? Any word on if NJI is going to go union? Lastly, if you are a captain on a base aircraft, do you go back to an FO if you move to a large cabin aircraft? Thanks in advance.

2. NJI-UNION, Yes! It's in print... When 1108 walks in the door..
3. As a UNION pilot here at NetJets we never- go back- when we bd another aircraft... That's the can of thing that happens at non-UNION shops where the pilots are weak...
4. You re welcome...

Though there has been at least one NJA captain who has taken an SIC seat at NJI. It is an option if you aren't senior enough to hold a G-IV captain slot and you don't mind the pay cut. It is rare and it isn't a requirement, but it is a choice you can make. I believe there is at least one BBJ SIC who was a captain before and took the lower pay for a different kind of flying. I believe NJI has somewhere around 45 big Gs and NJA has 2 BBJs and maybe 5 2000EZs that qualify for the higher FO pay. Overall it is a small fraction of the fleet. Most of the big airplanes are now going to NJE- they already have more G-Vs and 550s than NJI and they are getting something like 35 7Xs and they just announced an order for 20 or 30 2000LXs. I believe NJA is going to get some 2000 LXs, but not the same numbers as NJE. I wish we were getting some more here, but that just isn't the case.

FOs have the opportunity- it's all based on seniority. Until this November 50 percent of the FO seats in the big G's will go to NJA pilots by seniority award and the other 50 percent will be off the street. Those off the street are already in a pool and have most likely already interviewed. After this November 100 percent of the FO seats will be NJA pilots. The last couple of Falcon 2000 classic bids (not even on the large aircraft pay list) have gone to pilots with around 3 years seniority. The last G-IV bid was a little more senior than that. About the biggest airframe a newhire could possibly expect to be on in their first 39 months (length of seatlock on the '07 contract) is the G200. That's how seniority and the new contract have so far affected positions on the larger aircraft.
