No not yet. I'm still in touch with my contact, and he says wait a few months. I turned them down last year (pay), would've been upgrading to captain by now.

Sadly Evil,
In this market, there are a LOT of pilots with B747, B727, B737, B757, A320, MD-11, DC-10, and anything else that you can think of that are now on the street, but were furloughed before they got the PIC Type (Yeah, I know, they got the SIC type though...). This is very much like the early 1990's, when Eastern, Pan Am, US Air, TWA, America West, Midway, the military, etc. all furloughed. The only difference between then and now is that in the 1990's there were the have and the have nots... But now, Everybody is or is about to "have not".
So, tragically, there are a lot of Kalitta, Gemini, Focus Air, Cargo 360, Air Tran, Sky Bus, Atlas, Frontier, United, Spirit, American, ABX, Astar, etc. "big" airplane pilots on the street.
Good luck to us all in these 5h1tty times.

To make my statement a bit more clear let me say this, this is not the first time I hear of this particular circumstance. Whether it is a "myth" or not, I should have used a different word to discribe it. My bad.

Curious what kind of times people are applying with?
How are the hotels that the company puts you up at? Netjets quality, or Holiday Inn type?
Are reduced rest periods common? What are the average overnight durations?

I can answer the first question for you; but we'll have to wait for someone experience from within the company to chime in on the other questions. There are a few of them that check this thread so we ought to get an answer at some point. There are also a few other threads on Avantair on the forum that you can search for additional information.
As for times applying with - I have around 3500 TT with approx 3000 ME Turbine PIC. I'm mostly military background with a few hundred GA.
I understand that they are not calling right now but expect to sometime later this year to fill class dates. The online application was fairly straight forward and easy to fill out, but I haven't found a way to update the resume once submitted.
Good luck!

TurboDog,
I applied with 2300tt and 1000 multi, as well as two internal recs. And aside from my days as a CFI/MEI, most of my times came from flying Part135 charter stuff. Since being furloughed, I do have a few part time flying gigs to keep current, but I mostly "fly" the recliner in my living room these days. Still no phone calls yet, but it sounds like things are going well at Avantair from what I have heard. The fleet is expected to increase in size this year and they have just recently started a new "Axis" club membership program which allows customers to enjoy the perks of a fractional program without the financial commitment that a fractional share or time card might be. I am sure this may help luring customers from other fracs over to Avantair. Anyways, it is always a good idea, I think, to keep checking out their website and study up on what is going on at the company for when those interview phone calls start up again.
I wouldn't mind fast forwarding a few months down the line and see if any hiring picks up in the spring/summer months.....
Good luck to everyone out there

Got an e-mail from avantair that my resume had been forwarded for review
for possible phone interview but haven't heard anything else yet. 14,500 hrs
2500 transport category jet, 8800 PIC turboprop. This looks like a good company with a competitive product. Good luck to all.

I got that email also when I applied. I initially applied back in September and have been sending updates via my two internal recs. since then. That email seems to be the standard auto reply email they send out when you fill out their online pilot career form and submit your resume. Good luck everyone...hopefully the phones will start to ring soon!
