My apologies for my improper joking about your post. You will see around the forum that I encourage others to improve their communication skills, but in no way was my post intended to hurt feelings or make fun. Without question, one of the most important things about making it in this industry is persistence and hard work - having the skill is a given. You are off to a good start with your attitude and will make a fine X pilot someday. Good Luck!

BigNickey, best of luck to you in your future. I'm fairly sure that Calcapt and the rest of the guys here were not trying to undermine your enthusiasm for your future in flying, but I think that they were honest in sharing that people should check their CV's and resumes for errors. They all seem like good guys.
As far as the experimental language learning that went on a few years ago, it is so true! One of my sons was a victim of the "whole language" method of writing for a period of time. I remember having a few words of disagreement with his teachers. They would say, "your son is so creative in his writing and we want him to express his ideas so he can keep the creative flow going without worrying about spelling and grammar" I told them that I thought that my son was bright enough to be both creative and write correctly. His teachers actually told me that I was "over-correcting" his papers. I'm happy to say that my 22 -year old son can write correctly and is also creative, thanks to my "over-correction". He majored in music in college and he's currently a recording artist here in California.
The guys here who are telling you to check your spelling and grammar are only trying to help you. Your resume is more likely to be tossed aside if it's poorly written. I realize that some of the best and brightest minds (and pilots) may not be the strongest in writing or spelling, and that the skills don't necessarily go hand in hand. I think that all they're trying to say though is, if you're not strong in that area, at least try to be on your application. You'll be more likely to be noticed.
Best of luck to you!

Yes I have found it to be a pain to deal with but I have been getting better over the years I always have a few people look over my papers for things such as research papers and such. I have made quite an impression on all of my teachers with my ambition to better myself, and they are all happy to look over my papers for other class. Something as important as a resume I would send to many people before sending it in. My literature teacher this year is a very extraordinary teacher, and I am lucky enough to have him next year as well and someone I am sure to keep in touch with for many years after school. He has helped me improve my spelling and weighting greatly.

In 10 years you will be so used to spell checker that you won't be able to spell all over again. It's part of growing up in the computer age. My spelling aint none too great, but it got a lot better when I was furloughed and taught for a year- that's some embarrassing shiznit to get yer spellin corrected by an 8 year old. I think the Xs are pretty cool also, but I my real aspirations are to stick around long enough to fly supersonic business jets. Good luck on living your dreams.
