So at the begining of the month you get a tentative schedule? Are you on call like the airlines with an X amount of time to show on days not assigned trips? What happens if they are unable to get you back to base for an off day?

Is it possible to get the 2000EX as a new hire and if not how long estimated to hold it?

One more, are the upgrade times very different for the different airframes or bases?

Thanks for the continued flow of info guys...and gals

I'm not sure if they are doing the tentative schedule for the reserve pilots anymore or not (i'm on 7 and 7 and that always shows). The tentative schedule was up at least a week before the next month when it was being used. On reserve they will brief you by 7pm the day before they intend on using you (or earlier since they must give you 10 hours notice before you are assigned duty). When you are assigned to duty you are required to be at you base by the show time assigned the night before (or later if it is updated to a later time- they cannot update to an earlier time). If they end up not using you and you kive more than 50 miles from the base they are required to get you a hotel and pay for it starting the first day of duty- not the night before if you have to travel in. On reserve they own you up to 7 days. The tentative schedule can show anything, but it is TENTATIVE and can be changed. They have 14 hours or until midnight on day 7 to get you home unless you voluntarily extend (1.5 times daily rate) and if they get you home later then they owe you an extended day of pay if the realistically scheduled you to get home and 2 extended days of pay if there was no way they could realistically get you home (to your domicile) by the end of day 7.

There is no way for a newhire to get the 2000EX- there are only two FOs on it currently and they were both off of seat lock before they could hold it. We only have 3 or 4 of them so far and I'm not sure how many we are going to get. They are almost now all captains while they get the program going, but since the FO seat pays more than other FO seats, it is a seat that will be filled by guys/ gals already on property- probably at least 2 years if we get a lot of them and maybe a lot longer if things ever slow down and we have lots of pilots stuck as FOs for a long time.

Upgrade times vary by seniority only right now since it will probably be a least 2 years for any post contract pilots to upgrade, but once post contract pilots are able to hold slots it is by seniority in base unless they are willing to change bases. The standing bids require you to rank the aircraft in order that you want to be captain in and also what domicile you are willing to live at. If you are willing to live anywhere to upgrade it will be by seniority only and you may have to move. If you bid only for one domicile, then there could be junior pilots upgrading in bigger airplanes that you hold at other bases while you are stuck as an FO and then can only upgrade into something smaller or less desirable. This sucks, but whenever we get a new contract- probably at least a couple of years after the current 5 year contract is expired, this will be addressed. Hopefully it will be addressed sooner, but I really don't know if that will happen unless they have a hard time hiring pilots- not very likely for the time being.

How hard is it to switch aircraft? How long are you seat locked?

At the interview are there a lot of questions about 91k regs? I ask because I know the 91 and 121 pretty well but don't really know any of the differences in the 91k stuff. This could take a while to learn.
That 10 hour call out sounds really nice to me I only get 90 minutes for the 6 days i'm on . I sent out the resume last week, how long should I wait before sending again if I don't get the application? I really appreciate all the answers I know I have asked a lot.

2 year seat lock for FOs, unless you can upgrade to higher paying equipment (presently impossible in 2 years). As far as how hard to switch, it all depends on what is available. Most guys and gals now will probably be waiting in their current equipment for upgrade or a class IV slot, but those slots are going pretty senior as far as FOs go. Right now it would be easy to get almost anything since there are FOs leaving every fleet to upgrade. If you decide to go to another FO seat after your seatlock is up, you are seat locked in the new equipment for 2 more years (3 if you switch to G-IV FO at NJI) and you cannot upgrade out of the seat before the end of the second seat lock.

I don't remember any 91K questions, but www.aviationinterviews.com is dead on as far as what is asked and it is regularly updated by recent interviewees. I really have no idea how long to wait before sending in the resume again. Good luck!

Well I got the application in the mail today so I guess it will be headed back in the next 2 days hopefully. How long till I could possibly hear about an interview, anyone know? I have recently heard that a lot of ppl are backed up in the training department. Can anyone there verify if there is a long wait from Indoc. to IOE? Thanks

Different airplanes are more backed up than others. I have heard the X is very clogged up right now, but I don't know about any of the others.
