Anyone care to post a "typical" schedule. I know 7 on/7 off but like... does anyone have a log of what they do during those seven days that they care to share. Much appreciated!

There is truly no typical schedule. Some airplanes fly more than others, but even those will have radically changing days. There were some stats taken by the union on how many flight hours and how much duty was average throughout the various fleets. The Xs fly the most hours per duty day- a little over 4 and they have the highest percent of days over 12 hours on duty. The Hawker 400 was the least busy at under 2 hours per day flying and the lowest amount of 12+ hour duty days. There are days that you just airline. There are days that you sit around with a broken airplane. There are days when you fly all day and days you don't leave the hotel.

We bid quarterly for a 7&7 line or reserve. Once you have a 7&7 line you own it and don't EVER have to bid again if you want to keep it. I'm already making vacation plans for next June.
There's no such thing as typical as far as where you fly. The daily schedule is quite random. If you like knowing where your layovers will be ahead of time this place will drive you crazy. My motto is: "Life is like a box of chocolates."

Pugnacious.... how did you get on the DA-2000? Did you come from a regional? That or the Citation X would be my bird of choice
Thanks!

I don't believe I can give you a logbook sample due to confidentiality agreements with the company. We spend plenty of time in the NY area, South FL, and LA. In general the smaller the aircraft the more variety you will see.
I came from Mesa and am now in my 10th year with NJA. I flew as Capt on the Ultra and X before getting the Falcon. For Captains it's all about seniority. New FO's are assigned to aircraft types based on company need. You may get a choice of types when hired or you may not. The FO pay is the same for all types that new hires are placed in.
Good luck!

Normal is 7 On 7 Off. Reserve pays more because you do not have a set schedule, your trips are movable and you are available to work more days. Depending on fleet and seat this schedule can go senior or occaisionally be junior assigned. The following is from the contract Blue Book:
19.3 Reserve Schedule
Maximum duty days: 18 in a calendar month required by the Company, except when otherwise allowed (e.g., training events).
Maximum tour length: 7 consecutive days required by the Company in any single duty tour, except when otherwise allowed (e.g. training events).
Reserve schedule is subject to change at any time (with the exception of the 4 “H” days per month).

19.3(b) Hard Days Off “H” Days
Pilots are entitled to bid for two 2-day periods per month as “H” days OR may elect to request all of them be placed in a single 4-day block.
