After looking at BB’s rediculous letter to the NMB, talking to the NC members and union leadership, I’ve come to realize the company has no idea how to create a comprehensive and compelling argument with numbers. When they are able to scrape some numbers together from wherever they come up with them they are nonsensical and completely transparent. The rise in credit to block would easily be shown as inept management of resources and failure to plan adequately, as has been shown all to clearly by the company throughout the negotiation process.

Lack of basic leadership (by design) IMHO.

I honestly don't think they care.

Because... Bobby and Mandy Jo will endure untold misery, delays, cancellations, and down right animalistic treatment for a $29 ticket.

When the cost of fixing it becomes less than the savings they get from breaking it, then things will change. Until then, enjoy.

A $30k mistake would be a really big deal to me because it’s roughly 60 times my average daily income. A $30k mistake to a company making a million dollars a day is 1/3 of 1% of one day’s income.

It’s hard for us little people to understand the scale, in other words.

This being said, when this company has historically been more frugal than a Dutchman, I cant believe that they’re not noticing the colossal waste we’re seeing on a daily basis. For as big of jerks as this management group is, the one thing they do well is make money. There’s got to be some other ulterior motive or plan in place where the net effect of our current screwed up operation is MORE MONEY.

Maybe they’re setting us up to take the fall... for a TRO that will set us on our heals and lead to a lower cost contract. There just has to be something going on here beyond pure incompetence.

I don’t know. I guess I’m just thinking out loud at the breakfast table this morning. Sometimes trying to figure out the root cause helps me get over the raw frustration of trying to work in this environment.
Well said. They are definately up to something fishy. I smell it.

I'm so tired of hearing "our work rules" from our union.

Deltas 230 seat airplane tops out at $321 per hour, our 230 seat ask is $245. Our Awesome work rules include giving up lines for IOE to sit reserves, no holiday pay, no international override, no red eye over ride, no crew meals, no breakfast included at hotels where every other airline gets breakfast, middle seat deadheads in the most uncomfortable seats in the industry.

The only thing we have is vacation drop that we can double dip in. That only works becuase we don't come back through base on trips. So yes, if you are willing to give up your couple weeks of vacation per year you can make a little extra money. WHAT OTHER WORK RULES DO WE HAVE?

Plane,
Man do I hope they call you for the survey. All of our asks and capitulations were designed to get a quick deal. That didn’t happen, and now we are stalled by the NMBs inaction. After reading JetBlue’s reserve highlights that someone just posted on their forum, it seems there was a lot of thought put into it. Not saying it’s great, but ours remains basically unchanged. What this shows is we still have a lot left on the table and now is the time to let the MEC and NC know where you stand. Go to the PUB events, tell them what you want. Prepare to answer the survey intelligently. Think Pay, Retirement, Scope, LTD, per diem, Vac/sick time, reserve, hotels, deadheads, duty rig, daily min, trip rig overrides, everything and anything you can think of. I think it’s great they decided to do another survey. Let’s get it right and maybe the NC can start pulling stuff off the table that is unsatisfactory now since we’ve been negotiating for so long.

DDL is about it.

This vacation swan song needs to die out after this next round of surveys. If not, I fear we will get parked into next year until the NMB feels like we've had enough punishment. Because if we aren't willing to negotiate a change to our vacation system, we aren't going to have any mediated sessions to go to. It'll be cold and dark from the NMB. Sorta like what we are seeing right now.

Quantify vacation, negotiate it, and let's f'ing wrap this up.
