SWA just started CHS-DEN service in June. I definitely see a pattern with these route announcements.

SWA parks all of the remaining classics Oct 1st. Could be opportunistic. Strike while they lack the metal to mount a competitive response.

^^^ Spot on. If I correctly recall, SWA will recoup the net loss of the classics in mid 2018 and will be expanding the fleet substantially thereafter.

I didn't check in the article, but I assume you guys are flying less than daily service and using the same gates (more cities with same gates) for the new cities. Either that or you have improved turnaround times at the gates for more flights per gate.
