NONE of which he bought distressed and “flipped”? His supposed “MO”?

Do some research on his departure from Spirit.

An F9/NK merge would benefit everyone but the pilots. There is no benefit to either group to interlace two young seniority lists. If either airline were to add the equivalent of the other in airframes you want all of them going to new hires being added below you and not integrated with you. Merging either with either just adds more NB flying to more US cities which is of no benefit unless you place value on a Denver layover versus a Baltimore.

The last thing any NK or F9 pilot should be wishing for is a merger or a second fleet type.

would it be easier to merge with similar rates and dates or harder? having essentially the same rates, DC and DOS dates, keeps things a little simpler until a new JCBA can be negotiated. Why march 2nd for your TA? And why compete against another LCC in your backyard AND united and southwest. Why not join forces and compete against united as one airline? Another note, you say it would be good for everyone but the pilots. Think the powers that decide this stuff really care how it effects the pilots if its good for everyone else. And yes MORE airplanes flying to MORE cities is the goal. Thats growth. Combined 200+ planes with nearly 3300 pilots overnight could provide the company the ability to scale up quicker than the two separately. With little route overlap, and F9s west coast presence combined with Spirits well entrenched caribbean and central america service that could be a nice compliment. It might not happen in 2019 but I personally think its in the cards.

Merging two similar carriers isn't growth for the pilots. F9 has 100 airframes and NK has 130. Being 50% in seniority among 1000 pilots is the same as being 50% among 3,000 pilots. Pilots need retirements (which neither NK or F9 have) and/or new airframes. A merger of two similar carriers does nothing for either of our pilot groups as we gain no relative seniority. Orders and new pilots being added below us is what both of the pilot groups need. The only gain that could be had would be a merger with a widebody operator where higher hourly rates could be obtained at some point.

If you're Jonesing for a Denver base that bad I' recommend applying to F9 or UAL.

growth for the pilots or growth for the company ? Think we are talking two different things. Working for larger company with more revenue potential and scalability could bolster collective bottom lines for our careers for many years to come. AirTran pilots were none too happy when all that went down. All the ones I know are pretty damn happy now. Im not leaving florida until they put toe tags on me.

Spirit... and they only sold their Spirit majority stake (notice I didn’t say “controlling stake”) to gain the capital to buy 96% of Frontier. Bill Franke has said this much publicly, he wanted Spirit to purchase Frontier, and when Baldaza blocked it Indigo went with option B. I don’t know where people are getting the “and THEN they sell it” part of Indigo’s business plan. They don’t sell their profitable businesses off, they milk them for cash via private ownership for a while, pump some shares on to the public market for more cash, then they buy more airlines.

And in regards to a merger with Spirit, Bill Franke has been quoted as saying that a ULCC merger is “inevitable.” Do you think he means Sun Country + Spirit or does he hinting about a merger between the company he owns and the other company he previously had ownship and still operates under the same exact model? I agree a Frontier + Spirit merger is not imminent but it’s “inevitable.”

Just to stir the pot, it would be Frontier buying Spirit. How would the seniority list look? Staple ours above Spirit?
