My guess is they underestimated and are surprised at how little open time there is with Reserves being allowed to pickup open time on days off with new contract... I just looked - Denver has 10 pairings for rest of month - LAS 6 pairings MCO 7 pairings etc (Captain). I can’t see FO pairings. This appears to be about 75 percent less open time than pre new contract. So just an educated guess is they may be waiting to see what happens next month and reforecast hiring / upgrades. Anyone want to chime in on my assessment? Just an educated guess on my part.

Guess we’ll see if they pause interviews.

Sounds like a good guess to me. This company only has 1 thought process: save money.

Pretty accurate. The whole contract is set up to allow getting by with less pilots.

Yes, it looks like flying isn't being added as quickly as pilots.

The contract appears to be very effective at getting pilot utilization up.

I'm surprised they weren't ready for the changes.

I'm seven months in and don't get called on reserve, let alone being able to pick up open time/aggressive reserve... There isn't any...

April 1 Class
 

Any idea if it was the whole April 1st class or just a few people?

That I couldn't tell you. I know it's everybody from my interview group that was scheduled for April 1.

Obviously this doesn’t answer your question, but I was moved to May from the April class.

2/5. I think everyone from my interview group was moved to May. However, there is one guy that I cannot confirm was moved and still may have an April date.

Interviewed Jan.24 and selected April class, but was notified of the new class date of May 6th.

And if it is the whole class, I’m guessing this will affect the May class, and so on.

If it looks like you're an anomaly in the class scheduling pattern, I'd email whomever the latest contact is and ask. I was almost left out of the original class that I had planned and been told I would be in.

I'm sure they are task saturated with all the changes and there are going to be things that get dropped and emails that don't get sent.

Just talked to head of HR, April 1st class is still on.

Did they perhaps just reduce the size? Or is it altogether back on?

He said some people have deferred and that he has been getting a few people asking him about the class and he is not sure were the info that it has been pushed back to May is coming from.

It appears to be an unsubstantiated and baseless rumor.
Also; we saw Ed Bastian from Delta in the Emerald Tower this morning, and apparently there's'a 787 order announcement later this week..
