A lot of assumptions there, Chach. And not everyone shares your opinion about ".10 cents more of per diem."

People don’t know how to check their 401k? Ha ha nice try.

I think whoever said that originally was simply stating the fact that a little boost in per diem would be nice, a long with all all other raises we are getting. No need assume so many negative things.

Since the new tax law says we cant write off any employment related expenses, including the per diem on a per city basis, I am concerned about a few cents of per diem. That's money we cant recoup any more, so every little bit does matter.

On a trip that has 72 hours TAFB, a .10 increase equals $7.20. All I’m saying is most guys don’t even know what the right side of the decimal of their pay rate is and you’re worring about $7.20 over a 4 day trip. If you compare that 7.20 to what you’ll make over a 4 day at your pay rate, it’s really peanuts.

I hear you on it's a small amount, but by using your math, and assuming four 4 days a month, it comes up to about $350 a year. Yes, a 2nd year FO can make that on a MCO to ORD leg, but that's not the point. Were leaving a new set of Bose headphones, or a new suitcase for work on the table.

I'm sure someone will respond with negotiating capital or whatever. It done and over with so this is what we work with.

No negotiating capital...no “how many cents per hour per diem”...no whatever...

As a “no” voter, it’s over. Let’s help each other move on and make the best of our current situation. If you aren’t studying the old contract v. the new contract and scheming how you can either:
A) Maximize your pay check, or
B) Maximize your time at home
You aren’t trying hard enough.

Where is anyone coming up with .10 an hour less in per diem? Considering AA,AK,B6,DL,FX,NK,SWA,UA, and UPS Frontier pilots are earning .34 less an hour than the average. At 4-4 day trips a month it equates to hundreds of thousands of dollars when invested monthly over a 30-year career.

Obviously one uses their per diem to cover expenses and therefore wouldn't be investing all of it, but it's all money-in / money-out and it's not an insignificant amount of money although it might appear that way on the surface.

Plus, it's an extreme outlier for a new contract. There's at least one regional that pays more per diem than F9. It's so far outside of the realm of reasonableness that it NEVER should've been agreed to.
