Will F9 ever resume classes?
 

I interviewed in March and haven’t heard anything of substance in over 3 months. Is F9 planning on running classes anytime soon? I keep hearing December.

Does anyone know what the hold up is? You would think will all the growth that they’d be running more classes than just the 4 and a half they did this year.

Needless to say it’s a little worrisome considering how much hiring they told us they’d be doing. Is F9 still conducting interviews?

Classes will definitely resume.
They are actively looking for second hand airplanes as well. However nothing from training as far earlier classes then states.
Personally i would continue applying to other airlines, if you haven't been already.
Dec seems far away, lot of people think it will be way before Dec, however not officially.
Just be prepared to have like a one week notice for a class in Sept, would not surprise anyone here if they did that.

They haven't got a clue!

I’m not in the “know”, but the last two years they’ve done this exact same thing. Stopped hiring over the summer and said no hiring until late fall or winter and then started classes in September.
As far as I know they are still doing meet the chief events.

I'm sorry for your frustration in waiting so long for a class date. I get it.

During contact negotiations, which became pretty hostile at times, a majority of the pilot group stopped picking up open time and taking voluntary junior assignments. This lead the company to become artificially short staffed. The company was hiring like crazy during that time.

Now that the contact is settled, there is no shame in picking up open time. Plus, guys are very eager to make money as we were so underpaid for so long. Also, the contract probably does require fewer pilots per plane than the old contract. Not a lot, but a little.

The credit override at 82 hours is a big motivator for guys to pick up open time which of course means we need less pilots. So, I believe that we are in this temporary hiring freeze until we adjust to an equilibrium at a new, slightly less pilot per plane ratio. Once we hit that new ratio, hiring will resume full speed ahead.

From what I can see (looking at open time, and the number of premium trips) I don't think we are very far from hiring resuming.

Have a friend who had a class date, the same day he gave his notice they postponed his class. Luckily he was able to take it back, but sure there are some people who weren’t as lucky.

I think the biggest frustration is little to no further communications from HR. I sent an e-mail about a week ago, still no reply.

I'm not by any means wavering, I made my commitment. However, communication is a core to good mgt/pilot work climate.

The HR folks probably don't know any more than we do. I assume that one day in a management meeting someone will mention that we are looking to be getting short staffed and they will resume classes. HR will find out the same day the rest of us will that hiring is to resume.

Well, it sure isn’t stopping Mgt here from pulling pilots off the line for sick calls and fatigue reporting, so I call bs on your assertion that we are “struggling to keep (its sic our) nose above water DAILY”.....
