I imagine they’ll just build lots of EWR overnights. The memo notes a lot of long trips out of there; Caribbean stuff especially. Day trips out of Philly for sure..

With the MAXes grounded Southwest has had to cut flying across the system. EWR was one such casualty.

OK, let's say you're the bean counter in charge of cutting flying at Southwest. Do you cut the most profitable operations first or the least profitable?

(Because every thread needs a Princess Bride quote...)
Yes, while true for Southwest who have a very strong presence in two New York area airports, it's not true for Frontier; who don't..
Focussing on LGA with it's fancy new Terminal will work for SWA, I'm sure we won't be short of New Yorkers willing to take the PATH train for Low Fares DR..

You can't be talking like that, this is a bash EWR thread. Come up with a "what exit?" comment of something involving the Sopranos or the former governor. Liking any aspect of NJ, let alone EWR..

I was based in the “sewer” for 4 years back in the day. Honestly I enjoyed it. I lived there for a year too...was a hell of a lot better then the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area...that place is awful! As long as you’re not in east orange it’s fine. I lived in the ironbound across from Newark Penn station. I’m not a city guy at all, but Newark gets an unnecessarily bad rap. Also the employee cafeteria in the basement of the ewr airport is the best! Miss that!

Was number 86 for departure outta there one day though. Pre pax bill of rights of course.

My favorite gift NJ gave to the US culture was Snookie and The Situation

Reminds me of when the EU ATC was a hodge podge collection of nationalistic unions that didn’t work well together in the 90s and as a military aircraft you’d often get a “slot time” after you filed your flight plan for like 5 hrs (record on board in Rota was 23hrs 18min) later so you’d load up the plane and have ops send a “ready msg” to atc at which point a slot time would suddenly appear sometime within the next 30min to 5hr and when it did you had to takeoff within 15 mins or start the process over.
