Based on what I’m hearing about the recent changes to the hiring process, I’m not any of us can offer much insight into what they are looking for anymore. We’ve gone in the direction the legacies went. HR - driven, computer scored applications, personality screening like United, scripted interview questions etc etc.

They still have to like you when they interview you, but the gist of the game now is to score enough points to get above the threshold needed to get a cjo... It’s a shame the pilots aren’t pulling resumes anymore...

As far as working here, it’s a solid group... go to work, don’t do anything stupid, collect pay check, repeat... no one bothers you if you do your job in a mostly competent way...

I’ve never... not once... flown with an fo or captain that said I wish I was back at my regional... you’d be on reserve in PHL for maybe 2 months... you’d probably be a captain there in less than 3 years... this day in age, you want work for a company that makes their own schedule...

I’ve let my gripes with the current contract be known but when the 5th and 20th roll around, I can’t believe what I get paid for the amount of work I do

Agreed with above posters. Having the 320 type on your resume will certainly help if you decide to leave. You can’t really go wrong with any major at this point in time.

That’s a pretty gracious post from a guy that’s not had a lot of great things to say about F9, thanks. I bet we can all agree that Frontier would be a better place to tread water than his current regional should the poo hit the prop.

As a successful applicant of course I'm gonna say I think the process was fair. Probably more importantly I thought it was thorough. Yes there's a lot more hoops than the old days, but I'm old enough to remember when even the 'commuters' as we called them then required a simulator eval. Today they go with training records to save time and money, and that's Everyone in the industry.

Regarding them screening you about considering Frontier for the long term, I think that's very fair, that's their right. Even my very good friend of 25+years who recommended me (Frontier CA) wanted to know that I planned to stay. He's very forthcoming about the past challenges but loves working for the company and is proud and optimistic about the future. What also impressed me was that other good friends who work for UA/LUV/UPS/AS all asked if I was looking at Frontier when the conversation came up...they thought it would be a good fit for me and I agreed, and here I am. Were all in this together, its a brother/sisterhood.

Ironic that my airline apps account expires this month. I don't plan on needing it anymore. That's a damned good feeling. Here's to the future! Cheers and Happy Holidays!

Good morning all. The question was asked from a 121 to 121 perspective. I’m frax and desire change. I received a email for Jan interviews. PHL would be base of choice, and I would be commuting from BOS for a while til I move. It would be a SIGNIFICANT pay cut for years to come.

Can you folks give an insight to typical schedule? Is reserve the 2-3 months as I have heard? Is upgrade really the 3.5 years advertised? I imagine that will slide as hiring continues. Vacation impossible for a few years?

Default 121

Actually the question began with ‘new to 121’...
Frax? Fractional?
Pretty much everyone here took a paycut. First year pay sucks. At pretty much any airline. Everyone’s been there. I’ll echo what’s been said, fantastic group to fly with; it really is. PHL is juniorish.. should become more so. RSV is impossible to predict. 12 months ago I’d have said 2-3 months. Some
2019 hires never sat RSV. Some will for 12 months.
The fleet growth is coming; training is gearing up for it so we all hope the upgrade number drops a little.
I got 2 weeks of vacation booked for year 2. No problems there at all.
Good luck on the day. They’re looking for people who want to work *here* -not for someone whose’ bored or burned out elsewhere.

I’ve said this many times. While it would be great to get to “” airline, it is far better to be at any national carrier any day of the week than at any regional, period end of story. Where would you rather be when the music stops??
