Default Is it a good move?

New to 121... PHL based, looking to stay that way for the foreseeable future. Is it a good move to try for Frontier vs sticking with the regional (with a decent contract) and upgrading and waiting for a legacy to call? Is the PIC time worth that much more? Are people generally happy working for Frontier?

Yes, not as important as it once was, and yes.

PHL is our junior base. 2nd year pay is over $100/ hour.

Definitely try for Frontier

Just keep in mind that the Frontier HR group is damn good at picking out people that plan on leaving. You really gotta convince them that you want to be at Frontier. If you are looking at it as a stepping stone then you have a slim chance of making it.
I love it here. Great QOL and pay.

Good luck with your decision

Pay, QOL, work rules, and 99% of the flight crew here are great. With PHL as a goal, you'd be VERY happy here as it is (for now) the junior base in both seats.

I think the only people here who aren't happy are the DEN RES CA's. The base is ever-so-slowly shrinking and Long and Short Call's are getting used damn near every day. Folks who used to get lines/relief lines have found themselves just going backwards. Their QOL has and will continue to suffer.

With the growth actually happening now, the upcoming domiciles, the 3 year upgrade, and most of the flying here, F9, to me (and 90% of my coworkers) is a career airline. I love it here!

I would agree with this 100%, if you aren't 100% sure that F9 is better than you current RJ job (even as a CA), I wouldn't even bother trying to apply. You've got to be all in or else they will sense it during the interview and it'll be a waste of time.

Use it as a stepping stone. You can BS the interview pretty easily, get your type and go somewhere with east coast bases with a better contract, more money and more opportunities for your family.

Agreed. To tell someone not to try unless they plan to stay here the rest of their career is bad advise.

The first thing people should care about is their own lives, and their own families.

Obviously you have to play the game in the interview.

Then if it makes sense, stay here forever, and if it doesn't leave.

Free country still, kind of.

ClearCreek left F9 and likes to tell everybody how happy he is that he’s gone and how bad F9 is. The fact is it’s one opinion... I’m happy CC is happy, but I’m of the opinion that F9 is a pretty good place to be. You don’t know what F9 is like unless you work here so convincing the recruiters it’s the best move TODAY should be easy. In a few years time you might feel more like CC and think it’s a stepping stone or you might feel like me, who knows?
