It looks like you guys finally woke up a realized this is serious, no more jacket discussions or other inane nonsense. I don't want anyone to lose their jobs. I remember living through the failed acquisition by Southwest where about 40% of us where looking at unemployment followed by preferential interviews at SWA when the purchase was complete. So don't get all bent out of shape when someone is optimistic that F9 might do ok.

I didn't mean to offend anyone by objectively discussing the financial realities of the airline industry. I don't wish ill upon anyone. I do hope my own airline does succeed though.

Any chance the company ends up canceling Airbus orders? The entirely U.S. airline industry is at an overcapacity right now. Then again, ULCCs could exploit market share potentially once we rebound. It'd be interesting to be a fly on the wall at some of the Indigo meetings right now...

My money is on them keeping the orders unless they were no longer able to afford it. Having a grip on those orders is win/win for Indigo. Either the airplanes come to F9 in the future (as we all hope) and make Indigo money that way, or they can make a pretty penny leasing them out through one of their leasing partners. Before the pandemic, the wait for a new 320 series Airbus was somewhere around 5 years from order date, if I recall correctly. There will be winners at the end of this pandemic, even if F9 isn’t one of them. I don’t think it will be overly difficult for Indigo to find eager lessors/buyers for some shiny new Airbii.

For what it’s worth, I honestly believe we will come out as one of the winners...

My money is on all the new airframes coming and Indigo also buys someone else on the way out of this.

ULCCs don’t suffer from over capacity. When everyone’s fares are $39 we are making money.

If I had the choice on a $40 fare on Delta or $40 fare on Frontier, I’m sure not choosing Frontier.

I’m choosing whatever flight best matches when I want to travel. That’s pretty much what I’ve always done with equal prices.

Is that sustainable for delta? And for how long?

Of course not, but how long can Delta sell $40 fares and stay in business? For Frontier...if the plane fills up its basically indefinitely. Thats the point.
