I want everyone to have a realistic view of where we are from a big picture view. Everyone needs to make decisions in their personal life and with their personal finances and it's important to be realistic about the situation we are in.

2) Oil prices likely aren't coming down anytime soon. The war with Iran is likely to cause high gas prices for a long time. We are highly unlikely to turn a profit with these fuel prices

3) Our union is nonexistent. We are many months from having a cohesive, functional and effective union. When we finally get that in place, we will likely be aggressively demanding even higher pay than before but now from an airline that can't turn a profit.

If you're thinking about applying to United, you should probably do that. If you're thinking about buying a big, fancy "captain house" because we will "eventually get a new contract", you probably shouldn't do that. If you were thinking about buying a new Ford Raptor and then paying it off with your retro check, you probably shouldn't do that either.

I used to have a lot of faith in this business model and our union. Ive been proven wrong on both fronts. The market has turned away from our ULCC model. Trumps war with Iran may cause fuel to be $5+ for the foreseeable future. Our union is nonexistent and likely to become more hostile and demanding right when the company can least afford it.

That works on a personal level.
This is an airline, severely affected but fuel prices, which could not make a profit consistently when the price of jet fuel was cheap, and almost every other airline was making a profit.
On top of that our union was just blown into pieces, totally busted. We effectively have no union right now. I only have a few years left. I thought I was going to retire here, at F9. I am now considering moving on. This is not about being positive or negative. It’s about seeing reality the way it is. It’s not looking good. I wish it was and I hope it changes for the better, and fast. I have been here for over ten years and this is the weakest and most fragile I have seen our airline. And we have virtually no union. Especially if you are on the younger side, you should try to get out ASAP. I hope I am wrong.

Then move on. It's never too late. And so will others. I think and hope most have learned from what Spirit is going through. I am personally going to stick it out. Even with fuel doubling, Frontier has over a year of runway before things go really south. When/If things dont change at the end of the year, I might reconsider.
