(Spirit employee)

BWI was the next Spirit base before Covid, IIRC, it was confirmed by the company. But that obviously never happened.

There was a rumor circulating for a bit that SJU was also slated to be a base. THe purpose being that SJU would be a staging point to take the XLRs to places in South America that couldn't be reached from Florida. Makes sense on paper, but we also opened MIA as an international hub and scrubbed all international flying from MIA a year later, so who knows?

Point is, either of those would appear to be logical for Frontier.

If they're really thinking about future growth, what bases will best suit the XLR and what destinations are they looking at for it since it is capabale of long haul flights to Europe, Hawaoii and South America? The can already reach most of the SA routes from Florida. They can reach Europe with the XLR from PHL. If SJU were to become a base, what new destinations would it serve beyond the 11 mainland ones they do now (sevearl of which are already bases)?

Sore spot too. I talked to plenty of people and read up before coming here, but my due diligence wasn’t thorough enough. Everyone colloquially throws around 5/hr day minimum and I was like sweet, that’s a lot more than my regional offered. But every calendar day was truly a minimum daily guarantee. None of this average duty period stuff. Paid a full daily for layover days too, none of these 10 hour 3 days.

I doubt that will ever change, or any of our work rules. I fully expect protracted negotiations and finally settling on zero changes plus a pay raise, with overwhelming yes votes. This plus always feeling on edge about growth and if any of our bases will be here in a couple years was enough to make new apps and apply everywhere. I was a little nervous about moving on but all this sudden upheaval tells me it’s the right choice.

I was so happy when I finally made it to Frontier from the regionals. I was even happier when I left Frontier for a legacy. Get out, the grass is truly greener.

I suspect contract negotiations at Frontier will be very similar to how they've played out at Allegiant. Management will drag it out long enough to the point that people will be happy with increased rates and not much else. No incentive for them to get it done, and I'm skeptical that upcoming aircraft deliveries offer any real leverage to the pilot group. Indigo can sell off their orders to other airlines, or allocate them to their other airline holdings.

Unfortunately, I think this is a spot-on depiction of the future at Frontier.

very confident that "the first" or "a primary" XLR base will be PHL.

With service to Dublin.

We're not getting XLRs and we're not going to Europe.
