I've heard for years that Franke wants to link up his networks but it hasn't happened. We can take a 320 NEO easily to Reykjavik but we don't. Wizz already goes there. Also we don't even code share with volaris and that would be easy. I don't think it's the priority people think it is.

Just curious. Does Iceland require ETOPS?
DS was pretty adamant ETOPS was not in the cards (prior to him going out the door).

We code share with Volaris.

2018-2021 when it was cancelled due to a downgrade in Mexicos international safety rating along with all other airlines codeshares.

https://simpleflying.com/aeromexico-...rn-category-1/ The rating is back up and the code share set to resume Dec. 1 I believe.

Interesting. Hadn't heard this. Thanks for the correction.

Iceland air is now doing a 737 max from Reykjavik to Denver. No idea how many pax but we could easily do it from the east coast in a neo.

Aye no problem. I had already been corrected on the subject some time ago as well.

I’ve seen that and have also been curious. With the poorly thought out promotional video that included Dublin, Lima, and Hawaii this past summer you have to assume they have at least thought about it and run a some numbers. Who knows?

Right because the company would definitely not mislead anybody to help their recruiting efforts.

This is my answer to the proclamation that we'll add 3 more domiciles in 2024. It's PSY-OPS 101. Announced CLE as a new base... many disappointed because they were hoping for RDU or ORD or CLT or or or. So in the same press release, announce that 3 more are on the way. This keeps at least some employees hopeful that their favorite domicile is just around the corner and keeps them from clicking submit on their legacy app. Didn't cost Frontier a thing.

Same thing with all these purported new airplane deliveries. They belong to Indigo and can go anywhere or can be sold to virtually anyone. It's not a Frontier aircraft until I'm adding it to my logbook. Until then, it just raises hopes and stems attrition.

I’ll admit during the interview I drank that Koolaide up but when I heard the same exact spiel two years later from the CP my opinions had changed drastically.

I would absolutely believe we are opening new bases though I believe BB toned it down to “1 or 2 more in 24”. That is all we have done for the past two years. Yes Chicago shut down but PHX, DFW, ATL, TPA, MIA, and CLE. We aren’t even half way to Allegiants base count. Ryanair has 84. For the record I don’t like that method because of the sever base stagnation and displacement it causes. The most recent one likely hurts me.

While I disagree on the order situation your policy is one I stand by. Hope for the best plan for the worst.

I agree, I love the idea of having bases for a lot of people, but there is a point where it hurts. Look at Allegiant with SAV, they have what? 10 total pilots there?

If we continue growing, I wouldn't mind seeing a total 12 or 13 bases, but we will ALWAYS have issues with people who live in DEN and it being super senior. There isn't a way around that... You can't have a hub, then downsize it constantly when it was the main place of living for so many of your employees.

While we can look "more like ryanair" and allegiant with having a lot of bases compared to other major airlines, we do not operate like them. If you look at a lot of routes Allegiant has for instance, most only operate MAYBE twice a week.... We are (thankfully) increasing frequency on most of our routes instead of expanding to new routes with 1 or 2 flights a week. In my mind this leads us to having "a lot" (meaning 13-15) of bases, but not near as many as Allegiant or Ryanair due to the sheer frequency at which we fly compared to them.

Allegiant has 1140 pilots and 23 bases. There are several base identifiers most people wouldn’t even recognize. So we have 2100 pilots, do we need 46 bases to make this plan work? 😂
