My curiousity got the best of me and I used this thing called Google.

Latest email said DR is no longer with the company. With my little interaction with him he seemed like a very smart, hard working guy. Mostly had the groups interests first. Wish him the best...but something seems fundamentally wrong with all these high ranking ALPA guys jumping ship. Kinda shows what ALPA national thinks of Frontier as one of their carriers (they don't care about us at all)

How does someone leaving who happens to be an ALPA officer reflect on ALPA National? Is the guy supposed to stay at F9 even though it makes better sense to leave just because he's an officer?
This is NOT a destination airline. People will leave - it is what it is.

No there are people in charge making decisions. I am not in on those discussions. I just get to hear about them after the fact.
The question is do you think the decisions were right or wrong and why.
Quite honestly I am tired of the buck up buttercup lift your self up by the boot straps talk going on around here. You know a Union is a bureaucracy. So you must know there are people on top of the pyrmid making decisions, and the rest of us at the bottom get to read about it, Or at best get to talk about at a union meeting.
Telling me to get out there and just fix it is like telling me to buck up put my boots on and get out there and fix the DMV. How could I fix it I don't even know what the problems are. I only see the consequences.

You grossly misunderstand how this works.

How long did it take our Union to Negotiate the last Contract?
How long did they tell you It would take?
What were the hold ups?
I remember being told if it was not voted in. they would need to reNegotiate the entire contract with a mininum delay of 2 years. is that True?
Is Alpa really better than FAPA, what was wrong with FAPA?
I have more questions, as a lot of people do. Honestly a lot of things going on around here leave me scratching my head.
If you know what is going on then spit it out.

I don't think you're wrong for wanting to know. The problem is you're coming on an anonymous message board for a history lesson, with an already very gossipy pilot group.
Again, I don't think you're wrong for wanting to learn. But you have all these questions, and all this motivation (Tired of pulling yourself up by the bootstraps). Have you taken these questions to union reps and asked? Instead of Airline Pilot Central.com?
When I was an FO and would fly with Capts. in the union, I would ask them all sorts of gossip questions too. "I heard this, and I heard that, and this is why the union fails and sucks"
Yeah, and they would usually tell you what was true, why it happened that way, and that there were a variety of tradeoffs and reasons something was done in a particular fashion. When you talk to people in any of those upper level positions there's usually so much more going on beneath the surface. A random, off the cuff remark by some pilot, not in the know, might not lead you to the truths you seek.
So I say to you again, go spend some time with them. At least go to one union meet up.

All I will add, is that if you DO NOT like the way the union is working, then let your reps know. You would be surprised the amount of B***hing that I hear and I ask if they said anything, "nope" or "they don't listen" is usually the answer.
If you DO NOT like it, then change it. This is a volunteer thing after all. Ask to join a committee, ask to help your reps, and try and join the union in some way other than being "against it" because the whole point of a union is solidarity and being one, not arguing over why FAPA was better or why you don't like the chairs, or NC, or committees take too long to do stuff.
You hurt no one but your fellow pilots with this split minded attitude.
