Default San Juan Base

Considering changing from my current base to San Juan. I would be commuting. Any SJU commuters who can give me any insights on hotels, crashpads or other ideas? I know hotels are super expensive. Are there any gotchas I may not be aware of before I make the final decision? I have not talked to any pilots who commute to SJU. I have talked to a couple of flight attendants who commute from Houston and Dallas. One stays at AirBnBs. It seems like a lot of the multi day parings are commutable on both sides, even if they are bs low credit. I am just going for 75ish credit hours.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

The goal is a serious bump in seniority, with everything that comes with it.

Are you commuting to your current base? If you are currenly living in base, then that's a hard no from me dawg. No bump in seniority (unless it's going from like 99% to top 10%) is worth commuting for when you could just live in base.

I am commuting and it’s a bigger bump than that. I am just trying to figure out if there are any SJU specific unknown gotchas…unexpected taxes or any info on hotels. Thanks.

There are no "gotchas" or tax implications. Hope you know spanish. Please be courteous to the people of PR. If you're senior enough the trips do end up pretty commutable but like you said the credit is terrible.

Not really something I would advise.. Commuting can be hell. Flights are full all the time, commuting out can be particularly challenging.

Airbnbs are your friend here. Uber as well, public transportation is basically non-existent.

People will say this and that is dangerous, it's really not. The people here are some of the friendliest on earth.

I’ve been going to San Juan for years. I love Puerto Rico and the people there. I can actually get by in Spanish.

Hello, B6 here. I am getting based in SJU early 2025 and I wanted to know what you all were doing in regards to crash pads? Do you know of some? Are they all in a similar area? Or is everyone using AirBnB? Thanks.
