Great post!

I’ve been overseas and enjoyed it. I’ll probably go back next summer if one of the majors has not called by then. Just need a little more PIC to qualify for a captain position on an A320/B737. Or I could just wait and flow to the right seat of a 320 at Spirit for $38hr. (Stupid)

In Dec there are 33 hard lines, when most the year has been 35 hard lines. They also moved 8 captains from other base to DTW. So increasing staffing while reducing lines.

They aren’t trying to grow DTW anymore. I would say most of the RDU trips and about half of the STL trips start with a leg to DTW and then it’s all DTW flying for the next 4 Days.
So they are building the trips for the senior pilots in other bases and then over staffing reserves in DTW because they know the majority of the Delta flying goes through there.

Endeavor also opened an ATL base. Much easier commute for me

Yes, that was my impression of where DTW was heading when I left also. More or less just a reserve base to cover for the line holders in STL and RDU. Made my decision to leave easier.

Makes me suspicious that GoJet is next on Delta's chopping block too, or you'd think they put more emphasis on building up a proper DTW domicile.

Copied from the Endeavor thread...

So I did the quick math for a new hire with previous 121 time (qualified to hold CA). If you came here and sat right seat for 4-5 months and went to upgrade (which I think is the true pace at the moment) you should finish CA OE by 6 months and change pay rates.
On the 900:
TA passes
1st year FO $50.16/hr
1st year CA $88.72/hr
6 months Min FO $22,572
6 months Min CA $39,924
OE completion $10,000
Total first year. $ 72,496
That’s not too bad in my book to make the jump...

Interesting. Endeavor recently published staffing projections for mid-2018 and it shows notable growth on DTW 7/900.

Management recently has said that more 700’s are coming next year than the 3 we are receiving from Expressjet. I’m not sure where they are coming from though

Just put in my app thanks.

Still need to see if the TA passes and get a look at the contract, especially the reserve section, but 18k more a year and an easier commute are pretty compelling reasons to move.

Also the reduction of hard lines in DTW, especially during the holiday season, seems like a pretty bad omen for GoJet.

Because Gojet will increase their pay rates to match Endeavor. What choice will they have when everyone starts to leave?

Might I suggest that everyone who puts out an application to Endeavor or to Air Wisconsin or to Kentucky Fried Chicken send a copy to Brad or Randy with a simple note pointing out the increase in pay that you expect to get at the other airline. If they get 10 or more they will know they have to do something.

Gojet needs a chance to make the contract competitive before everyone just leaves. They aren't stupid enough to think that the pilots are going to stay when they can go to Air Wisconsin or Endeavor and make so much more with minimum disruption to their lives.

Ok, ok, you are all saying that I am an idiot for thinking that management is not stupid and thinks that they can keep the pay rates where they are and continue to operate an airline. You are probably correct.

No airline is going to be able to survive without raising their salaries like Endeavor.

I agree with the post above. There's a 2nd step coming in pay raises across the industry in the regionals. Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but if Gojet wants to raise pay rates above $42 first year pay for FOs they have to come back to the table for a new contract? I suppose the best way around this is to start throwing $25,000 sign on bonuses....
