Default Direct Entry Captain Total Time Requirement

Hi, just had an interview with G7 and seemed to go well overall. Had a slight hiccup because I was under the impression that I had all the time requirements. I have over 1000 part 121 time and just over 2000 total time. I was told by the recruiter that interviewed me that I needed 2500tt, and that it was a regulation... all I can find is 121.436 that says 1000 121 etc etc.. Wondering if I need to wait to get the 2500 total flight time?? They said I could do the early seniority date and take a class when I have 2500tt. Thanks!

That might be a G7 "regulation". The only FAA requirements are an unrestricted ATP and 1000 hours of Part 121.

That’s what I thought too. I asked if it was a company policy or a regulation and they said it was a reg which made me really confused. Wonder why they are advertising 1750 total time for “near entry” Captain then.

Sounds like they're so hard up for pilots that they'll take anyone willing to bail from their current regional at 250 hours. They can at least ensure that they're hiring someone who has gotten through 121 training before.

Isn't the question rather moot now? With the 550 being dead, or should I say the 700 is dead and the plan to resurrect with the 550 Zombie, is G7 going to keep hiring? I'm sure it will take several weeks for recruiting to get the word, but once word filters through the GJ bureaucracy, won't hiring stop and furloughs begin?

Every time Expressjet gets a 175, Gojet loses ability to fly a 700. Delta continues to take 2 per month. So Gojet loses 6 planes a month times 10 pilots per plane, that is 60 pilots fewer needed per month. Shortage is suddenly over for G7. Furloughs to begin.

If you don't hear a solution to the 550 problem by the end of tomorrow I think we can conclude G7 is over and just not telling everyone until they have to. The United MEC can waive scope for G7 to keep flying but limit the seats to 50. If they don't and United refuses to test that, it is over.

Unless of course if American has them start flying for them. That might happen too.

What does 250 have to do with anything if you have to have 1000 121 SIC?

I read it as NECs only need 1750 TT. I missed the 750 121 part.

They’re not doing NEC just the DEC but they changed it for military R-ATP so that a rotor guy, or mil guy in general, that came in at 750 hours can upgrade at 1,000 121. No matter what you still have to have 1,000 121 or 1,000 135 PIC according to the regs.

"This program is ideal for First Officers at other regionals who are close to meeting Captain requirements, but are facing long upgrade times."
