Actually I've said it many times... Just like you, I was clueless. All I knew was that it was a scab operation from all the hearsay. Not until I actually educated myself from both sides did I realize what happened. Not that you care anyways but to keep the flame going, I'll oblige. Are you that bitter that they never called you back ASA?

 

I would call those guys scabs to make myself feel better!!!!!!! Honestly is that a serious question?

 

You expect the entire pilot group to quit? They made a stand, voted down a crappy offer and then mgmt found a way to circumvent the pilot group by creating an alter-ego carrier. I personally don't think the TSA pilots could have done any more than they did. And don't say strike because we all know what you have to go through to be released legally to strike. You can't expect someone to quit, give up a senior CA or FO position and go somewhere else to "raise the bar" (not to mention go through training, probation, etc all over again). TSA pilots were trying to raise the bar when G/J came along.

At may last carrier we too voted down a crappy offer for additional flying that would have actually meant a pay cut to fly larger equipment. We did this full well knowing that our parent airline could give the flying to someone else. Eventually no one got the airframes that were offered. TSA pilots did the right thing, don't try to rationalize your decision to work at G/J by judging them.

 

They did the right thing, except that it turned out to be the wrong thing. There are many at TSA that believe this. You would have to be pretty dumb or have some kind of agenda not to believe this considering the current state of TSA. The truth of the matter is that it's not worth fretting the past. Nobody is judging or even cares to judge them, no one wants to step on the throats of fellow pilots unless they're scabbing. It's terrible that it had to come to separate lists, but it's not our fault.

 

I agree that it's gone on too long and it'd be nice to see some sort of resolution to this whole issue. So much of this stuff is out of our hands as line pilots. If mgmt has an agenda they can act on it, look at Midwest. They essentially have dissolved an entire airline and there doesn't appear to be anything the pilot group or ALPA can do about it.

 

Absolutely, since your co-worker didn't answer the question, maybe you will, seeing as you are vocal and proud of working at gojets.

What if Hulas began to dissolve gojets because he didn't want to negotiate better working conditions with you guys? Instead he opened an alter ego (to the alter-ego, how ironic) and gave them any and all future growth? How would you feel?

 

It's not your fault that you chose to join that list? Ok I'm game, who's fault is that?

And to Pause, you think all TSA guys should have quit in protest.... ok so a 10 year captain should give up his seniority and schedule because someone else is willing to stab him in the back?

Every single Gojetter past, present and future has gotten where they are by stepping on the backs of TSA pilots. Date of hire seniority integration. Then guys at Gojet who really are "innocent" lose nothing to the guys hired at Trans States in a similar time period.

BTW Pause, I would say the guys who went to Gojet "when everyone was hiring" are more guilty, not less. They had options, they definately chose to lower the bar. Guys now have almost no options, well except the guys with a shred of dignity.... Don't tell me "everyone" is going there or applying there... I've been furloughed in the recent past, and I probably will be again and so far no guys from either of my airline classes have gone to gojet.... so... there's my everyone. And don't cry to me about feeding your family, gone 200 days a year for 20k? It's time to develop some secondary skills.

 

No us furloughed ASA pilots aren't bitter.. we just have company loyalty and actually want to be part of a company that cares more about the big picture of the industry and not just let's be the cheapest possible.. i.e. decreasing quality. At least Skywest/ASA used their heads and found a way around making flying contracts a way to decrease the quality of our lives even more.. They used the hard earned money they saved and used it to make them stand out and make interest money off of it.

Like I said.. we were all offered a chance to interview at Gojet and give up our spot at ASA.. out of the total amount of furloughed pilots only like 3 went.. Hmm...

 

To get back to the original question, Gojet is hiring. I am furloughed United and was called again this afternoon and offered a November class. I have been called each month for the last 4 and haven't gone.
