Since I'm one of those Comair guys you speak of, I'll answer.

I went to Comair because I wanted to go to the place with the best contract. I was there for 6+ years. I commuted to rsv in JFK and DTW. I never once complained about my situation: I made the choice.

Once Comair started to shrink (due to our industry leading contract and super senior pilot group) many of us started applying at other airlines (myself included). I didn't here anything.

Once it was clear that Comair was going under, I wanted to live in base and have a fairly quick upgrade, and I knew I had to find a job to keep current and to support my family. I chose Gojet. This was the right choice for me and my family until I can go somewhere else.

I'm not going to say that G7 has the best contract in the industry or that it is the place I want to spend the rest of my career: it's not. However, I'm really happy here. I'm treated better than I was at Comair and I'm happy to have prospects to upgrade and move on.

How anyone can attack a furloughed guy for getting another job is surprising to me. If you are a TSA guy, I'm sorry for what G7 did to you. I, and many of my other Comair brothers and sister's who are here have no problem merging the pilot group. I would like to think that we are big enough to know that we would like to limit managements whipsaw ability and to try and right passed wrongs.

Anyway, I hope this explains my actions as well as everyone else's actions who are in my position.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune with Comair. Best of luck at GoJet. It ain't for everyone, but if it works for you, so be it. I'd be lying if I said we aren't all doing what's best for ourselves.

Here, I'll answer this whole thread for ya in one or two lines...

Pilots who have worked at "legit" regionals and have done their best to raise the bar (or at least hold the line) will think you're a scumbag. People working at gojet, or sympathetic to stabbing others in the back for personal gain will tell you that you have to "do what you need to feed your family" and make excuses for you.

There ya go.

Can anyone chime in about how long initial training is at G7? Also where?
