Avoid the risk and the hassle and vote yes!
The speaker on the IBT film also does the narration for the company training films. At Gojet there is not much difference between the union and the company with a couple exceptions.
I too got a kick out of the beginning of the video. No longer are we going to fire you on a whim. No longer will you be fired without just cause. No longer will it take YEARS for your case to go to arbitration and be heard!
Gojet has a very sophisticated system to get rid of people that might think differently then they do. They have no intention of changing that, other than to modulate their behavior because no pilots will go there anymore. Pilots think that everyone will play fairly. Gojet plays to win. Time after time they make the union look pretty stupid. The company fights every grievance saying it was not filed properly or was not sent to the correct person, or the wrong section of the contract was cited and therefore was improper. Then they fight over whether it can even be arbitrated, that takes a year or longer. The union eventually wins. But, by then the pilot has had to go somewhere else or has had to leave aviation. Gojet wins.
So if you want to go with a winner go with Gojet. This contract makes things so clear about the mentality of the 2 entities, Gojet and the Union. The optimists at the union see the contract as it MIGHT be used with pilots getting a 16 hour guarantee for a 4 day trip. The company sees that they can get 4 days out of a pilot for only 8 hours of pay. They get to use the pilot every day that is not a day off if they choose. Gojet pilots should vote yes because they just don't have the ability or the desire to fight for better. The company will make a list of everyone who opposes the contract and they will get you. Gojet plays to win.
A Wolf and a Sheep negotiate over what to have for dinner. Finally they come to an agreement. The Wolf will pick what is for dinner tonight and the Sheep will then be able to choose the next two nights. I wish the Sheep good luck.

My sarcasm hopefully makes us see the negative as well as the positive. The contract has been out a week and there is only a couple of people discussing it. Same with Republic and the other recent contracts. Less than 100k for any captain of an airliner is a disgrace. My gardner arrived from Poland a year and a half ago and does better than a regional airline captain. He has better hours too and goes to his kid's basketball games. The difference is that he is not working for almost free so that some day he can mow bigger lawns!

I'm also one of the stupid guys that never gets the message.
Every pilot who has been flying for more than 4 years should be making over 100 thousand a year. It is not 2008 anymore, there is a pilot shortage now. The market reacted when the economy went down in 2008 and pilots worked for less or didn't work at all. It needs to react now and salaries need to go up dramatically. I am embarrassed at how little I make in an important job.
I think there are more management guys watching this thread than line pilots. If I had a brain I would be scared. Fortunately everyone agrees on one thing, no brain.

Careful everyone, sheep are easily startled. The message is being sent out loud and clear. Vote yes or be considered "annoying".
