I demand cheap reliable safe transportation to and from the airport!

That's what many of the pax demand on our planes.

Shouldn't be any surprises.
No, there is no indication of the destination or length of possible fare.

So did the pilot in this case. How far that get him?

The airlines are operated by vetted, professional pilots.

The Lyft and Uber drivers are neither vetted, nor professional; some guy with their own personal car and a cell phone. Those are the qualifications.

Again, you get what you pay for. One ought not be surprised at the results.

No, drivers don't get to see the destination until the pax is in the vehicle.

The real culprit here is the government.

If they could build an airport that would allow ease of access in and out, and road infrastructure that doesn't clog, then drivers wouldn't mind taking pax in and out of there. But instead it is a huge waste of time, and drivers don't get compensated for time.

I used to feel bad about getting an uber for a 4 mile drive to LAX, but after paying $50-$90 to go from LAX to ONT/SNA and having the drivers complain the entire ride about how it was taking them in the opposite direction THEY wanted, I stopped caring. Like everything in life, nothing is perfect. If they hate it so much, they should just quit. If they don't complain about the drive, I give them a nice tip.

On the other hand, I had a driver who picked me up for an 8 minute drive to LAX who loved it because if he did enough rides by the end of the day he would get a bonus, so he loved the FA and pilot airport runs because he could rack up a ton in a short amount of time.

The LA taxi drivers/owners lobbied to keep the train from being extended all the way to LAX. It stops a few miles short. Stupid.

I have drivers cancel on me all the time in EWR when I'm trying to Uber to my pad. They call my phone before they even leave the cell lot and ask if I'm going to NYC. I say no, and a minute later they cancel on me. Rinse and repeat. Sometimes it takes 5+ drivers until someone finally wants to take the trip. Very frustrating, but I'll still put up with that over a dumpy yellow cab.
