Watch out! Someone learned how to use Google! Frame of reference, unimportant. Look how many articles I can find out the Google!

Fact - ALPA is a business organization, who operates and receives its 1.9% in dues from members, and it needs as many pilots in cockpits as possible to fund its Association.

The union leadership knows the threat to the pilot profession is not raising the retirement age. Why? Drone technology is the threat and having more qualified aviators by increasing the retirement age reduces the demand on needing drone pilot sooner.

Per the articles I posted in the links above the facts are:

* The FAA has created a drone POI.

* Boeing and Airbus will begin testing drone flights this year.

* Cargo and transoceanic single pilot/drone commercial airline flights will begin in 2024.

* The plan and target year to eliminate cockpit pilots and replace them with drone pilots in every aircraft is 2040.

The salient question is what would you rather have? More years of two pilot operations by increasing the mandatory retirement age, which would help fund unions to fight single/no pilot operations, or aircraft flown solely by drone pilots?

ALPA knows everything I have written on this topic. Why do you think ALPA is not fighting the increase in the retirement age but is fighting drone piloting?

The union knows the best way to fight the pilot shortage, the lack of aircraft training for new pilots, and the industry wide understanding of of the problem of too many inexperienced aviators in current airliners is to increase the mandatory retirement age.

Nonetheless, the increase in the mandatory pilot retirement age is forthcoming, likely in early 2020, with regulatory action already underway in the U.S. House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee for U.S. CAT pilots to fly to age 68, with a special issuance medical certificate and new FDL & FTL limits per the new regs.

The new FAR and ICAO Annex to raise the mandatory commercial retirement age has been marked and is earmarked for approval. They will be:

14 CFR Part 121.383, Amendment HR 4343, FAA INFO 08001.

ICAO regulation will be ICAO Annex 1, Para 2.11.10.1 and ICAO Annex 1, Amendment 167.

CBreezy,

Which fact I have written in this topic is inaccurate? People want the links and public information, which I have provided. Everything I have written is available on the Internet and is a fact.

Can you point to one comment I have written that is not a fact and backed up by a public source?

Let me get this straight. A troll who claims they're not a troll even though they don't know what the term means? Old man, you're a troll. Go back to watching Bonanza reruns. Maybe mix it up a bit and add Gunsmoke and Perry Mason to your viewing schedule. Stay off the internets; you're not even a very good troll.

We've pointed out multiple times some of the lies you've posted. I'll start with the EASA powerpoint slides that you claim are ICAO slides.

There isn't a pilot shortage, there's a pilot pay shortage. Lots of pilots hold Commercial Ratings but don't work in the industry. I know this won't happen, but imagine if employers raised pilot pay 50-100% and sponsored scholarships for new pilots to overcome the very high cost of training. How long do you think the shortage would last?

Because ICAO has not announced an increase in mandatory retirement age like it did in November 2006, the FAA has not announced an increase in mandatory retirement age like it did in December 2006, NS EASA's own commissioned study in the topic last year recommended maintaining its current maximum age of 65?

The conclusions you are drawing from the "publicly available information" simply don't jive with, well, the publicly available information you cite.

The "drone pilot" nonsense is little more than a red herring.

You're connecting dots like a caller on Coast to Coast...

Fact - ALPA Opinion: Why Two Pilots In The Cockpit Remains Essential

etc, etc...
Fact: I'm a human being, sometimes I make errors.

Fact: As a captain, I've suggested one course of action only to have the FO suggest a better one.

Fact: I've eaten bad airport food and gotten sick to my stomach in flight and handed the landing to the other pilot.

Fact: I've been in emergency situations where a *third* pilot would have been welcome, and I certainly would have been overwhelmed if by myself.

Fact: Two people bouncing ideas, solutions, and just basically helping each other complete the mission will always be better.
