Been there, done that. Back in the 1990's as an F/O on the B727. Fun! Of course my 1st airliner was a DC-9-30 with just 2 VOR's and an ADF and a very basic autopilot that wouldn't even catch an altitude. So we did a fair amount of hand flying.
