Can’t blame some of them. There are some companies in other parts of the world that thrive on turning other employees in for discipline. It’s just the culture.

Once we had to divert after bad weather and the ramp shut down and I was stuck for hours with 50 angry pax. I felt it best to address them from the cabin and of course there are 2 or 3 cell phones pointed at my face. Ugh. I’m not the best public speaker either.

Not sure if this had been brought up before, but wouldn't they need your permission to record you?

Depends, and depends on what state you're in. Different states have different rules.

First off, if it's in public then it's probably always fair game and making a PA on a plane probably counts as public.

In most places it's probably always illegal to record a conversation if none of the participants know you're doing it.

In some jurisdictions it's legal as long as at least one participant knows.

In some jurisdictions, all participants must be aware.

And IIRC in some jurisdictions all participants must affirmatively consent.

" but wouldn't they need your permission to record you?"

snowden says no. they can do whatever they want.

Also depends on who "they" is. If it's law enforcement, they can obviously get a warrant.

Outside US territory they can probably intercept and record anything for obvious intel reasons. It would not be admissible in court against a US person without probably cause + warrant.

Filming flight crew on board is not allowed. I've seen it in different airlines magazines. You can only film you and your group but need permission for other people. In the terminal is fair game.

Airlines can and do prohibit filming employees as a matter of company policy.

But there's no legal recourse, other than kicking the offender off the flight.

For most cabin crew you need the wiiide angle lens.

Imagine if that hard charging/over achieving DAL CA did that a few months back.

The backlash would have been off the charts.

Granted, what the eff he was doing back there in the FIRST PLACE, but still.

Everybody knows that the rules are different depending on how much a passenger matters.
