Today, not a chance. Have hotel security check for you. Zero chance I set foot in a room with just a member of the opposite sex, plausible deniability. And before LNL comes on here saying “I’m sure you’re nothing special,” it has nothing to do with that and everything to do with the time we live in. And in 2021, escorting a coworker into her room is as risky as innocently calling a FA “dear” or “sweetheart”. Cancel culture is too real Haha! I always appreciated one of the guys standing outside the door until I gave the "all clear.". I also don't mind being called dear or sweetheart. Guess I'm a dinosaur! |
There's a difference between standing outside the door, in the hallway, in view of the hotel Cameras, while the female goes inside the room to do a sweep then when she gives the all he clear walks away to his own room, than the male going into the room with the female outside of the view of the hotel cameras where the #metoo can occur.
And that's a "hashtag- me too", not a "pound me too". one is an after action or even a fake after action report, while the other is a request. |

But hey, maybe you will get lucky and be on the camera of you and the FA on the elevator and then leaving on the same floor, walking together....see what im saying. Its guilty until proven innocent in today's time. But if you are someone (not necessarily speaking of you) that thinks they should be doing "room sweeps" as a pilot, at the hotel, none of this will sound any warning alarms anyways. Some pilots will always leave the flight deck to confront a passenger, no matter of the time; and some pilots still think room security sweeps are in the operations manual for their job. And lets be honest. 99% of the time, the FAs run to the sign in book, see what rooms have microwaves, debate the shuttle time, grab the keys and are gone...leaving both pilots to take their turn signing in. Again, not directing this to you. Just my 2 cents on the notion that a camera will absolve someone from doubt |
Its gone 180 from the olden days where the Pilots acted like the head of the family and took charge in the cabin and at the hotel.
Now there is a alarmingly high number of instances of the Pilots leaving the plane mid deplaning and rushing the hotel van or waiting ground transportation, leaving young female FAs to wait alone very late at night at some desolate airport after deplaning is over. |

At a regional they should probably stick together. But at many majors they're going to different hotels, with different outbound show times. If I'm on a 10-hour overnight I'm probably not waiting for the FA's if they're staying for 18. |

Serious? Question, do you put your hat and blazer on when going to the back to confront an unruly passenger or just the hat? |

So instead of waiting for them you'd take the van and let a couple 20 y/o girls wait curbside somewhere like HPN in the middle of the night? All so you can get to the hotel 10 mins sooner than otherwise?
This is the coarsening of society. FAs only care about pilots once we land if it means we "hold the van" for them, thats it...and I get to reply most of the time "heading downtown, see you later" |
