Sovereign invasions of neighbor states qualifies in my opinion. They're extreme, rare, and require attention.
I can't imagine the confusion you must have in your life if that is on the same or lower level as WMD goose chases.

One of the tragedies of GWB's gratuitous "war on terror" is that it's destroyed some people's sense of what's a worthy engagement and what isn't.

We just had our fourth democracy in the Sahel lost to a military coup (led by foreign military officers WE TRAINED- but that's another story). Not only that, the ungrateful junta b@stards are kicking us out - forcing us to leave a couple of airbases after we dumped half a billion dollars into building them. Worse yet, they are letting the Russians use the bases WE BUILT. Does this meet your criteria for intervention?
