How will gov't shutdown affect us?
Serious question - if the US federal government shuts down for a period of time (which looks probable), how will it affect us?
Will it prevent new licenses from being issued? Will FSDOs close down? IACRA inop? PRIA? etc?

itll be chaos, the immigrants will swarm across. There will be murderers a rapist on every corner. Abortions will be performed in the streets. Woke leftists will come to your house and take your guns, money, and fox news away. Crazy

It's going to screw the pilots trying to get a Special Issuance of their medicals. I'm on a FB group for diabetic pilots and they're worried about the delay. The Feds already drag their feet on many of these medical apps.

(they'll get it retroactively after the govt is funded).
Bad deal for those people. TSA had a significant sick call rate last time which resulted in long lines and poor service.

I think if I remember the last time, the big things were that ATC and TSA are essential. so they have to go to work. But they won't be paid.

Only effects I ever noticed in years past was mil reserve drills in Oct got canx. I don't recall whether you could make them up later for the pay.
I think one time an Oct mil exercise lost all of their planned reserve support. The AD can and will be ordered to keep working for free, even if not funded, but they'll get the back pay later.
Reserves cannot be ordered to report for duty unpaid (OK hypothetically maybe for WW-III). They also would have no assurance of back pay if they did, and their travel and lodging would not be paid for.
I drilled for a points only a couple times on my airline days off, but just to take care of vital admin. Wasn't going to mil drop two weeks of airline trips, jumpseat overseas, buy my own hotel and rental car, and work 16 hour days for free.
I think the mil has learned, in this day and age, not to rely on reserves in Oct.
