Please, it’s a Stearperson. Haven’t you learned anything from this thread?

I saw a couple of them at Sentimental Journey this week while sitting on the flight deck of my Piper Cub.

ALPA represents the group and it is in the best interest of the group to court the public so that we can rally the public behind us if need be.

If we seem like dim witted regressive idiots, we are shooting ourself in the face. Last thing we want is the public to do is support companies to slash prices on the backs of labor.

Can we work on menstration also? That and menopause. What do men have to do with that? Just leave us out of it. Pick new terms that aren't gender offensive.

This is exactly why we need to push against this small group that makes us all seem like dim wittied idiots to the public.

You act like a majority of the public wants and likes all this BS.

I agree just a little bit. But for the most part the public cares very little and influences even less. The public doesn't call their congress reps on our behalf, that's just not happening.

The public that does consciously support us, I would guess are blue collar union demographic. The coastal elites probably think we're over-paid knuckle-draggers anyway. If they think about us at all.

Where the public comes into play is if management is worried that the customers are concerned that the pilots aren't getting treated right, impacting safety. That's what pickets, billboards, etc get after.

The public cares very much when things like the swa pilot pulls out his unit during a flight. And they would care if, during a future incident where the new 25 hour CVR tapes are pulled and people get to see what some people say behind closed doors. They would be STUNNED with some of the racism and bigotry that would never be tolerated in the rest of corporate America.

Been flying for over 30 years and never experienced racism in the COCKPIT. The only thing close was an interview question addressing it. OMG I typed out a taboo word....

People don't GAS about woke crap that very few of us on here care about. The general public cares about safety and being on time. If you want to talk about racism in careers I think you will find that in our profession compared to most others is virtually non existent.

Then you haven't been paying attention. At least once a month someone says something discriminatory or off-color about a different race, about women or about LGBT either in the form of a bad joke or just plain derisive
