lol, that is so true. ALL my non-pilot friends think that I make a lot of money.. like my first year out of college they were like, "I'd think you make AT LEAST $60k." My new roommate (a non-pilot) also guessed that I make "at least 60k." He was shocked to hear that I made less than 30k. I was too embarassed to tell him that it's not even 20k!

Yeah, I have a bunch of friends who are going to be teachers. Whenever we eat out, they like to try to push the check at me for fun. One of them even tried to make me feel bad because I might make more than them in like a decade.
I love being able to leave work at work. That's kinda hard while I'm a CFI, but much easier than say school, or other jobs where you sleep, eat, work, eat, sleep, repeat.

Spending two weeks in Chicago, downtown in the summer and only flying four roundtrips ORD-LAX-ORD. I'm so stressed, I had to go out and enjoy my 3 day layover in Zurich. People pay to do this kind of stuuf. Tough month.
Having to introduce yourself to the chief pilot.
I have a job that impressed my son's pre-school class. In fairness, it only lasted until the firemen came around. They passed out hats.
Sunrise over the Grand Canyon. Numerous beautiful sights around the world. My office has a view.
Spending 14 whole, complete 24 hour periods at home. Folks with real jobs sometimes only get 14 days off in a year.
Driving to work twice a month, not 5 times a week.
Having a job where my spouse can choose to work or not.
When I get home, my pilot case (and my job) goes in the closest and only comes out when I have to leave again.
I can live anywhere in the US and its my employer's problem how I get to work.
