EXACTLY!
It seems like too many people would be willing to wager their lives on expecting the passengers to come to the rescue enmasse and defeat the suicidal, lethally armed, and possibly numerous terrorists on board.
While I won't deny that these days its probably a fairly safe wager that a lot of people will be out of their seats in 2 seconds flat to immobilize a threat on board, I will NEVER knowingly let that be my last layer of defense on my plane.

I think that's poking fun at UAL who after 9/11 bought a few thousand tasers and trained all of the pilots complete with live fire "certification".
The tasers were never approved, but to UAL's credit they tried to do something while Congress wrangled over the FFDO program.

Sorry for sounding blonde, but couldn't you use a Taser and then while the suspect is immobilized, handcuff him?

I missed that inference. And having a taser is, to me, is merely a variation on the old maxim of bringing a knife to a gunfight. No thanks...
