Couple years ago, I heard Airline xxx on the CHINS into SEA with Seattle Center. Conversation went roughly like this...wish I could remember the airline.
Airline xxx: Seattle, question. SEA CTR: Go ahead sir Airline xxx: Yeah, we're not from around here, and we'd like to know which mountain is Mt. St. Helens. We'd like to point it out to the passengers. Without missing a beat, an unidentified voice gets on freq and says: "It's the one with the top missing" |
Coming out of Warning Area we contact SoCal approach-
SoCal: RW123, your following company traffic RW456, 12 o'clock, 3 miles. Me in RW123: Tally-ho. Female pilot in RW456: Who you callin' a ho?! |
ATC: DELTA XXX, Orlando Approach, say airspeed.
DELTA: 250 knots. ATC: SOUTHWEST XXX, Orlando Approach, say airspeed. SOUTHWET XXX: 250 knots. ATC: Ok, I see 30 knots of overtake on Delta. SOUTHWEST XXX, please slow to 210knots. |
Me: "Ground United N6352 taxi"
Ground: "What kind of equipment are you flying today United" Me: "Cessna 172. Sorry that's my other airplane." |
^^^ along the same lines, years ago I was up in the Reno area and heard:
"Center, Gulfstream xxxx...errr...sorry, Skylane xxxx level seven thousand five hundred." "How did you get from Gulfstream to Skylane?" (without missing a beat) "One's for pay, one's for play!" |

While being vectored during a busy lunch hour over Lambert, I heard a Cessna call approach and request vectors for touch and go's at STL. The controller was patient and explained that the airport was too busy to handle that request at the time. After a couple minutes, the guy again asked the controller for touch and go's at STL, and added that it was a public airport and they should make room for him. The controller responded, "Affirmative sir, turn direct to Foristell VOR and hold. EFC sometime tomorrow."
