Default Most Frequent ATC "issues"

Don't like having the controllers give you taxi instructions while the reversers are screaming through 100kts ?

What other issues reoccur from ATC ?

Can't say that I've had that issue. If I did, I'd simply ignore them... As a rule, between 60 knots and 200 AGL, I'm a no radio communication type of person, unless it's an emergency.

I don't have any recurring "issues", but have noticed more trainees on frequency and a lot of younger voices. It would be nice if ATC were able to accommodate technology a bit better, in particular the ability to fly direct to various points or in the terminal environment.

IAD, by chance??? I know they like to do this every once in a while. Usually it is just which HS to take, but since we do the same routes 100000 times a day they just tell us where to go and to either monitor ground of switch to ramp. No biggie for us, but definately a concern for people not as familiar.

I really love it when you get a wheels up time, and you remind them every time you change frequency. But they still get you really close to the hold short line and then you get past the time and tell you to turn around and sit until they can get you a new time. This happening twice at the same airport more than once a day gets really old.

Checking in with ATC advising you have the WX to which they respond "Advise when you have the WX."

And I agree with Tony. I hate it when ATC asks where we are parking while still on landing roll before change of controls takes place.

I love it when ATC vectors you towards terrain, both pilots know that it is bad, and only after you question the heading does the senior controller speak up and give you a correct vector. Makes me wonder what would happen if we didn't speak up because we were unfamiliar with the route?

Yah, there are lots of trainees in ATC (about 3000, with 11,000 controllers).

I love getting clearances to PAPA HOTEL XRAY or Lima Alpha Xray airport.

Sending me direct to a way point not on my route of flight, that I don' t know how to spell, that I have no idea where it is on the chart, and then getting upset when I don't immediately turn. (Trick, ask for initial heading, or ask them to spell it; they still don't seem to pick up on the fact that I don't have every single waypoint in the entire country memorized)

So, preempt them... When I used to fly into IAD regularly (the A gates), if things weren't too crazy on the frequency, I'd often check in like this:

"Blueridge 7210, visual 1R, we park north side."

90% of the time, tower would come back with, "Blueridge 7210, roger, cleared to land 1R, third highspeed is approved."
