"The 35-year-old New Yorker was charged yesterday with causing a disturbance on a JetBlue flight after she lit up a cigarette at her seat, punched a flight attendant in the jaw, and kicked and screamed when airline personnel tried to restrain her."

Doh! I really say they should not serve alcohol in the terminals... I see way to many drunk people try to fly... In the end I go back to another point I touched on in a recent thread. Personal responsibility. She made bad decisions that led to a bad situation. That is not a hard leap to make. I am sure she will claim some sort of defect or tempprary insanity or some sort if problem that made her not be able to control herself... I call BS, She chose to drink. She chose to disobey orders while drunk, and she certainly made the decision to pop that Fa onthe chin... Do i thinkt hat deserves 20 yrs? Prolly not, but she does deserve something.

She should be forced to pay for the extra cost incurred due to the emergancy landing (i.e. fuel, crew pay, as well as a fee for the inconvenience of the other pax that may have mis-connected). Of course this should be on top of what ever other punishment she would normally recieve for "interfering with a flight crew".

I like that idea too, but since Naomi Cambell got off with no jail time for her BA antics, I doubt this lady will get a stiff sentence too.

Just a hunch here, but I doubt she could pay and meaningful fine if it were levied. I suggest locking her in a room with all the pax she p@ssed off for a few hours.
